Avowed
Avowed delay to Feb doesn't look so bad now
https://www.ign.com/articles/assassins-creed-shadows-delayed-again-this-time-by-another-month

first there was a two week breathing space announced between KCDII and Avowed, now ACS got delayed to next month

this means KCD2 and Avowed now have an even better chance of doing good financially

Good, good.
The more space the better.

It's on gamepass though so sales don't matter.

I think you are oversimplifying a concept someone tried to explain to you that a direct comparison of two games one being on gamepass and the other one not has to take into account that one of the games is on gamepass

Its gonna matter in the future. Microsoft will see what people actually play on gamepass and long term resources will be going towards stuff that people actually play.

I was being sarcastic. There's a constant argument on here that gamepass supercedes all sales and when a game is released on there it's automatically a success.

I have strong personal doubts about it.
Yes, a mediocre game are most likely saved by gamepass.
But a mega successful game would suffer cause of it.
(If a game would have sold millions of copies would gamepass, especially a game that is overall shorter, result in a missed chance)

Smaller the budget sure. AAA budgets though? No way.

KCD2 would do well even without the delay of AC. I am sure Ubislop is delaying AC because February is packed and it would affect their sales. Monster Hunter Wilds, KCD2, Civ VII, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. Avowed is the weakest of all titles here.

Exactly. AC is already in a heap of trouble and has been in the media for negative press for far longer than they'd like as they keep making slip up after slip up. So now they are seeing the potential blow-back from this in their sales numbers and are trying to do everything in their power to salvage what they can from this wreck. That would include looking at the releases occurring in each month especially since we know games make a lot of their sales right around release.

Which is why you would think that knowing how important releases were, you'd do your damn best to make sure that 1) Your 1st impression of your game is amazing and 2) You stay away from controversy like the plague.

Speaking of Assassin's Creed I still find this series of street interviews funny.

It's a great example of not understanding how demographics works when doing interviews sure. That's the funniest part about it.... Oh outside of course the fact that hip hop music is playing for Yasuke engagements lmao.

Ubisoft delayed it because they're occupied by finding a buyer before they sink.

And that's not due to woke. Ubi's been cashing cheques they could barely cash for decades and it's finally catching up to them.

They have a buyer. Tencent. If the game is finished, that is the last reason to delay it.

With a subscription model, there's a lot of emphasis on subscriber retention. High profile AAA realeses don't happen all the time and not everyone plays every AAA Release. MS has to offer their subscribers something between high profile releases so they don't lose interest and cancel their sub. A broad selection of games is crucial, even if it's a lot of less played games.
