Avowed
Did Obsidian change their minds?
I remember that in an old interview they had said that it would only be possible to play as Elves and Humans, which is honestly quite sad because they are the least interesting races in Eora if you don't count the subraces of each one.
But recently it seems that it is now possible to play Godlike, and probably the others, did they change their minds?

Since all the replies so far in this thread are by culture warrior activists, who literally know nothing about the game they are grifting, I thought I might point to what we actually know at this point from previews, interviews and announcements

- you are story-bound to be a somewhat of a godlike, which comes with a surprise because of PoE2 events
- you can choose to be either human or elvish born
- nothing is stopping you from creating a "white cis male human" this is a fact as previewers already showcased it
- it is mandatory to select appropriate [monstrous] godlike features
- you may choose to hide said godlike features in-game if it is more your liking to have a character that looks normal
- but this is cosmetic only, characters in game will still react to you instantly identifying you as a godlike

No Dwarves, Orlans or Amauan. Yeah it is tragic. :/
From what I understand is it mostly due to the perspective.
1st person from a dwarves or an orlans perspective would be a nightmare due to the massive size difference.
Then combined with the animations in 3rd person needing to match 1st person perfectly in damage to make the combat flow smoothly...

Yeah, I know WHY they were cut, but man... wish they weren't.
IF we get a sequel (IF)... they might add them.
Vermintide includes characters with different heights and perspectives despite Fatshark being much smaller than Obsidian. Dragons Dogma from 2012 outright lets you pick your height:

Yet it's done for the sake of diversity. DEI in a nutshell. 0 steps forward 2 steps back.

Remember when Mass Effect: Andromeda first came out and making a white character wasn't even an option? The white skin for a custom character had to be patched in later. That was one of the first big controversies of that game.
We aren't dealing with Bioware now however, are we?

Hence why their games have declined in quality ever since.

It is a showcase of this being a trend for years in the western AAA developers though. Pushing diversity by limiting options, removing the choice and acting as though the people complaining about it are crazy.

Vermintide has set characters with set animations, and limited weapons for each character. Not the same game, no the same priority.
Dragons Dogma has a compeltely different perspective (aka not 1st person) which impacts a lot of features and details in regards to height.

You can't compare other games that arne't the same type of game and make argument based on them.
Or should I argue that CoD sucks because you can only have 12 players in a match while Starcraft can have 999 units at any time?

All it is showcasing is that BIOWARE has been sliding down the greasestained slide in the last decade.
Because everyone only REALLY seem to use Bioware as the comparison due to Veilguard's failure of roleplay.

No I had no idea that happened lmao. The game looked subpar regardless so I had no interest in it. I've tried to play it a couple times since but it's boring af.

Something must be lost in translation between red pill to normie. I litterally have no clue what you are saying.

I ignored it because the entire line of thinking makes abolutely no sense to me. How das someone being adressed with a pronoun not associated with their biological sex lead to spam? And why wouldn't my spam filter just block it the same way it already does now? I'm genuinely confused about this argument.

not only that
the game heavily focuses on exploration
MC size difference affects which holes can be crawled through and which jumps could be made

My friend.

Let us be honest. Do you think a developer where an employee (in top leadership position) has already come out and said he hates males, and white male gamers is not going to have that idealogy in his game? Or force his viewpoint somehow into his art?

Yeah, it was a thing.

I was playing it day one as a huge Mass Effect fan and found it weird I couldn't make Ryder look like me.

There was a lot wrong with the game beyond not even being able to make a white character so it didn't even make the top 10, but it is a showcase of the trends of the western gaming industry and what they were actively pushing.

And Avowed has procidural animations? No. Or what are you talking about, exactly, when you are referring to them as "set"? You ready to bet that Awoved will have more weapon animations than Vermintide? Bold, very bold.

CoD sucked for a long time - you know Battlefield with 64 players and vehicles?

Bro, just stop
You can in fact make a "white cis male human" in the game
it's a fact
I've seen the preview build footage with such a character

PS
he never said he hates males and/or white males
you know this is made up entirely

1: He never said that.
2: Alright, give me another developer, famous for making big beloved RPGs that have gone down the slope with their RPGs in the western market.

Information about plurality. Understandable, I hope? Do not be ashamed to ask.

Because it conveys no useful information. And transfer of useful information is the core of language. When we remove useful information all that remains is spam, noise.
