Did Obsidian change their minds?
I remember that in an old interview they had said that it would only be possible to play as Elves and Humans, which is honestly quite sad because they are the least interesting races in Eora if you don't count the subraces of each one.
But recently it seems that it is now possible to play Godlike, and probably the others, did they change their minds?

Since all the replies so far in this thread are by culture warrior activists, who literally know nothing about the game they are grifting, I thought I might point to what we actually know at this point from previews, interviews and announcements

- you are story-bound to be a somewhat of a godlike, which comes with a surprise because of PoE2 events
- you can choose to be either human or elvish born
- nothing is stopping you from creating a "white cis male human" this is a fact as previewers already showcased it
- it is mandatory to select appropriate [monstrous] godlike features
- you may choose to hide said godlike features in-game if it is more your liking to have a character that looks normal
- but this is cosmetic only, characters in game will still react to you instantly identifying you as a godlike

The only playable race is godlike. You can't even play elves or humans.

That much is known. Perhaps character creator will allow to look somewhat human/elf-like, but again the only playable race is godlike.

I see... thanks, man that's a bit demotivating. I hope it's at least possible to choose the type of Godlike and this time from all the Gods then. In PoE it's limited to only 4.

Having them only able to play as Godlike gives them a way to do that.

Funny considering that the Godlikes are not a "race", they are people of different races who are born that way due to the influence of the Gods.

The proof will be in the pudding. Wait for the game release and see the limited options reference my last point. And see their default starting character. I will not say anymore.

I've already lost my desire to buy the game, I think I had too many expectations for it because I loved Pillars Of Eternity... well... what can I do? I'll wait to see the release.

Limiting race selection is the exact opposite of diversity.
But then, perhaps the word "diverse" has taken on an entirely different meaning for people baked out of their minds by red pills overdose.

You are correct. Forcing pronouns is also the exact opposite of diversity.
Yet it's done for the sake of diversity. DEI in a nutshell. 0 steps forward 2 steps back.

I played PoE 1 and 2. Both great games. Sad to see the direction of current Obsidian.

It's starting to seem like Obsidians putting all their chips into Outer Worlds 2 and have completely Disavowed Avowed.

Maybe. But The Outer Worlds 2 does not even have much hype surrounding it. I think both games will have "soft sales".

Soft sales is a nice term for flop.

Offering pronouns for selection, is not "forcing pronouns".

Pronouns are natural result of character sex. But not the other way around. Noone chooses pronouns.

I'm wondering if we'll see a big marketing push for it when they announce the actual date. Be really funny if that happens.
