If it were only one... but is multiple developers thinking so... we will see.
People may forget about this whole controversy. I doubt they will forget to ignore the game though. Unfortunately, if the story dies out, the game is likely to sell well enough.
It's just how these companies operate.
Of course they won't. They are going to hold on onto that grudge and let it fester until their already mentally ill state becomes even worse. I don't care what Hansen has said or written on twitter. He dislikes white men? I can think of reasons why I dislike white men too and I am one.
The old 'head in the sand' approach. I'm sure that'll work out well. 😂
It is legitimate criticism of all three of those.
You may like or at least don't mind the woke stuff, but I don't like nor want it in my games. And when a game's writing and character designs panders only to a certain crowd there is a problem and yes it's absolutely legitimate criticism.
But DAV had more important issues that BioWare chose to ignore when they were pointed out, like the game's extremely cringey writing, the changed design of the darkspawn and demons, the removal of choice, the lore retcons, the change from a true CRPG ... all of those were valid criticism and were completely ignored.
In Avowed's case we don't know how much pandering there will be, beyond those pronouns. But they often prove to be just the tip of the iceberg.
If pronouns and body type A & B are the extent of it, I can live with it. I don't like it and I WILL mod it out if possible, but it doesn't bother me that much as long as the story and gameplay is good.
And no, I don't mind gay characters, as long as they aren't forced onto me and their sexual preference isn't everything their personality revolves around.
Hell, at least Kotaku had the sense to fire Alyssa Mercante even though it wont save them.
This wont blow over though, they done cooked themselves and their future is at steak and it seems they are cooked.
Most of the character models we've seen have been pretty unappealing, not just the background npcs but the main characters too. I don't think every character should look like Transformers 2007 Megan Fox but why is everyone ugly?
It's world looks like you asked an AI to generate a soft fantasy world. In a genre where you can do anything I just don't understand why you'd make something look so uninspired?
Even if you ignore the Twitter antics of their devs the modernisms like pronouns and body types a/b tend to indicate deeper rot. Not all of the time but most of the time it is.
Writing is the most important part of an RPG like this and all we really have to go on there is recent games. If you liked Outer Worlds I think you'll probably be safe with this one. I personally thought it was a bit too quirky chungus millennial core.
