If you're hyped, play Outer Worlds (again) or if you got it for free. It'll save you 70$
Obsidian that we all love is long dead. I've just now accepted it.

I just uninstalled Outer Worlds after attempting a 2nd play-through since it came out. I wanted to do all the DLC this time but honestly it's just so uninteresting. I wrote down what how I thought the DLC storylines would play out based on the opening cut-scene to each one and looked up a summary and to my absolute disappointment I was about 80% right. The game-play is mid at best with wack progression and the main story progression feels disjointed and drawn out, side quests are basically fetch quests and all the dialogue being typical quirked up millennial writing gets old after a while.

There's also a pattern to the character writing which once you notice it you can't not notice it (I won't elaborate) and it takes me out of the narrative completely. Anyway this forum is a cesspit and I own the game on epic or I would have just written a review. I just wanted to vent amongst the jester farmers.

ooof I didn't know they were making a sequel. Outer Worlds is a 6/10 game for sure, it's not all bad. The current developer climate of insulting your fans has me depressed though.

Did people actually want a sequel to Outer Worlds?

I haven't played it myself due to motion sickness but I know people who did and none of them liked it and from what I hear on gaming forums it wasn't considered a good game.

So whose brilliant idea was it to make a sequel?

Don't waste your time on Outer Worlds... it's a very boring and bland game. There's a reason why everyone was afraid with Obsidian started comparing Avowed to it and they quickly stopped.

Hopefully Outerworlds 2 is better but a lot of people felt they were lied to about the first one. It's like Starfield--everyone bought it based on prior respect and accomplishments, but by the time they realized it was garbage it was too late to refund.

So like Starfield, company gets to keep ill-gotten cash and brag about sales number even though their playerbase largely disliked their game. So it's going to be an uphill battle for the sequel...

I still can't believe 1 hour into the game I saw every single enemy type and armor/weapon model for the entire game minus a couple special ones.

Not even indies are that bad.

I'll see how Avowed turns out first but I'm down with a sequel to Outer Worlds.

I like the setting and writing for Outer Worlds, but the gameplay was really basic and got boring pretty quickly. If Obsidian can, add more nuance and complexity to the combat and progression in Outer Worlds 2, that could be a really great game.
That's why I was glad to hear people who played the Avowed preview say the combat had a lot more going on, and felt a lot better, than something like Skyrim.

Yeah, character progression and combat were weak. I enjoyed the setting and characters. I kind of look at Outer Worlds as a first step in learning how to develop this sort of experience.
