Steam Deck Issues
Have been running into issues launching the game from within the steam deck console, but when I switch it to desktop Linux mode the game runs fine.
Kept getting a black screen and then an error message about a 120 second timeout.

Same exact thing here. After character creation and cutscene, HUD visible, everything else black screen.

all games will have steam deck issues. games aren't focused on steam deck unless devs pay especially close attention to portables like Nintendo does.

Okay after fiddling for the last hour, it seems to be that ***upscaling needs to be set at TSR.***

When set at FSR (default), I get the black screen with visible hud issue. As soon as I switched to TSR (I’m using 60% but any percentage works), I could see everything.

Also, if you turn off upscaling, you’ll get a black and white graphics glitch (with visible HUD), sort of like you’re playing Return of the Obra Dinn. TSR is literally the only setting that fixed any of this for me.

And yes, as for the boot issue, ensure -dx11 is in launch options. Game currently won’t boot without that. No need to fiddle with forced compatibility though. I tried GE, Experimental, Hotfix, etc and nothing changed on that front.

(I’m in OLED Steam Deck; I’m seeing a lot of OLED users, specifically, with issues.)

I have to do this exact same thing as well. I really hope it's fixed soon so I can take the game with me

I tried it, the only way for me to get the game started is to start and play it in desktop mode. But when I finish the game and resume game play mode, the whole screen glitched out as if I broke the screen, I resolve it by putting steam to sleep mode and wake steam deck up. Don’t know what is wrong with it still.

Weird it launches without any issues for me. I use proton experimental without any launch command.

Also the game looks much better when completely disabelling fsr. (Has to be done through an ini file as mentioned in another post here)

did this and it worked. game still runs a little rough but it's playable for the most part

ive noticed the game stuttering sometimes in the open world, and an occasional freeze for several seconds... other than that & the original issue no issues

Try Proton 8.05, it is the only one to launch the game, also Dlss3 is now supported, try the new Frame Gen mod with Decky Launcher, you will get 40-50 fps after.
I’ve been streaming to my deck from PC with sunshine/moonlight.

my Husband has this issue too, but the game is pretty heavily unoptimized.
They pushed out a patch that fixes everything on my end! No launch option fiddling needed, game boots without any issues. FSR also now works on deck. Frame rate is bobbling around 30, even in the city.
