They also have The Outer Worlds 2 coming soon which is their 'big' game.
No need to worry about this lot. I don't think their jobs are at steak.
As much as i think Starfield was mediocre at best it was still fine game worth of attention, in comparison Obsidian have rich library of very good rpgs like Tyranny, FNV, both Pillars games and long, really long story of people working among others on legendary titles like Fallouts. Now they delivered Awoved, very simple rpg but a good game, when i play it i feel like playing new version of Might & Magic. It is game focused on the story and side quests, less on advanced mechanics etc.
If a restaurant makes bad food it should close. If a games studio makes bad games they should close.
History doesn't matter. This Obsidian can't couldn't make New Vegas.
That being said they still clearly have a niche of gamers that like them. Ones that will pay £100 for early access to the upcoming space game with an anti-capitalism message.
If it was food it would be a bag of skittles. Colourful, no nutritional value, something people might eat between substantial meals for a quick dopamine hit. They also rot your teeth whilst this rots your brain.
Mid at best.
