What is the purpose of pronouns?
I'm asking those who are in favor of this feature. If you are neutral or against this feature, then I got no idea what you are doing in this thread. Because for you this feature should not be here.

20 years ago we didn't have pronouns. You picked a dude and you were a he/ him. You picked a girl and you were a she/ her.

So why is this a thing now? I'm trying to understand. Why is something like this important to you in a video game with a forgettable story where you run around killing people with swords and spells?

brainwashing, misdirection and made up problems for people to fight over, so they hopefully dont notice the real problems in the world and get together and try to do something about it

To give people choice. As it's a single player game, you can select he/she/him/her and not be offended by what others are doing, so what does it matter to anyone, really?

What is the purpose of eye color? It used to be you selected an avatar and that was it, now it's all "eye color" and "hair color" and ♥♥♥♥.

Why is this important?

That's how it still is except that a small group of weirdos escaped from Tumblr and somehow started to gain traction in regular society via Reddit, while capturing organizations via HR DEI policies (which were sold to businesses via large consultancies with no evidence that they improved anything at all). So we've all been forced to entertain their delusions for the last several years. Unfortunately for them, biology and thousands of years of evolution don't support gender ideology.

I don't know.
Some people want them, why shouldn't they get them ?
It's not like it has much of an impact on gameplay and needs a lot of manpower to implement.

I personally use it as a red flag, if I see it being implemented in a game that is a red flag.

Has a lot to do with WOKEness of Obsidian. That is the reason. And don't you ever think Avowed will be the end of it.

If you recall, people who took on the leadership in lot of DEI-driven companies pushed out real talented ppl, be them males or females, but in reality, most of them who were driven out are males. They all got replaced by females with no prior game dev experiences.

Read a biology textbook written less than 30 years ago.

I don't want it in games cus 5 years time when they replace people with AI there will be so many they/thems it will be impossible to understand what NPC is being talked about. It's unnecessary. And if it is going to be implement it should be a setting switch. As you say "some" people want them "more" people don't. And the casuals will consume. And if you have a counter to that some/more feel free to poll it.

They is a singular pronoun as well dude. Its been a singular pronoun for centuries. "Sam was over the other day. Shoot, they left their umbrella on accident. I'll have to return it to them when I next see them" has been a thing for centuries. In this case, it just means someone is neither just male or female. (Which is also a thing that has been around for centuries.)

Do yourself a favor and get an education instead of spewing ♥♥♥♥.

To the OP's initial question:

Its an RPG. Its to let you embody who you want to be when you make your custom character. In the same way that you can change your hair color, eye color, hair style, etc etc. Pronouns have also always been in games, its just that you used to be forced into set ones.

See it as some kind of hippie era. Guess back then some also wanted to be unicorns. Maybe one day this era ends and people go back to normal again.

Brother thinks Reddit is "regular society" so I can't even take how wrong this is seriously.

Less than 30 years ago. Bingo. Gender ideology has seeped escaped the kookiest corner of progressive academia, where is has been festering like a boil, into other things because of politics. Not because there is any merit to it. Somehow there has only been males and females for thousands of years but suddenly there is more thanks to the genius of weirdos in gender studies programs. LMAO

Because now companies pay fewer taxes and get subsidies if they push this kind of propaganda, which they can profit from more than sales.
