Apparently its fun early on (first 8 hours) but it gets disappointing later.

Not surprised. The game has mediocre writing just like Veilguard because the people who work at these companies don't care about making interesting stories, they care about their personal politics because Orange Man Bad
I can see it being 8 hours of fun, that combat system looks like it gets really dull really quick.

I hate this mindset, in a world where AAA does not give out any game demos anymore. But I also like it because you are admitting all professional game reviewers are obsolete.

They are obsolete. A lot of their views are very bias and they can be bought to give good reviews, if nearly impossible to tell when they are genuine at all and most of them are not very good at gaming.

70 euros for beryl average game... No thank you. This game is worth 40 euros and I would still not buy it.

the point of a review is to see if you like the game before you spend 80 dollars on it.

After watching a couple reviews and streamers play it, I'm safely filing this game away in the "i'll play it next time i get gamepass" bucket.

Much like Outer Worlds and Starfield, although this time it's not enough of a draw to sign up for GP just for this, it'll be the game i play *after* the game i sign up to GP for.

Yeah, game starts off strong them jumps off a cliff. They also tried to hide political quests in the game that are more preachy than they need to be, i.e. one about access to abortion meds.
.

Wait really? for a game with no sex the topic of abortion should be entirely absent.

And i'll be honest after watching some streamers the first couple hours looked pretty good. Combat looks a lot better than it did in the trailers.

It's a quest for an owner of a brothel, the aedyn empire is anti-abortion and the med can be used for both, it's lore stuff. However it's kind of really cringey how they go about it and how much effort they put into glazing you for doing the "right" thing that it just comes off as hollow.

Other minor stuff that shouldn't matter like how 90% of the NPCs are black or brown. I'm afro Caribbean and it was still weird to me since there are no natives here, everyone is a reject from other cultures all over the world including the empire.

And yet, 90% of the population is black... accidently offense sigh.

Stuff like this makes the gameplay and internal logic/worldbuuilding/lore all screwed up, you sacrifice it just to fart out a message and end up making your world feel unbelievable little by litte.

The combat and exploration are the best part about the game. I'm about 12 hours in right now and really enjoying that aspect of it. The story so far is pretty generic and exactly like Skillup describes it. It is also very weird that you can just steal wherever whenever when even Outer Worlds there were consequences for theft. You don't even need sneak No one reacts to really anything you do. Have also had the Fatal Error crash about once every 3 hours.

As usual one of the best reviews out there and it was brutal. Feels like a Netflix series on your second monitor while you are folding laundry. Combat looks really bad from my perspective, but all reviewers are praising it so there's that. But I don't think it's the right game for me.

well, he praised the open world side of things which i honestly thought was going to be one of the games weakest points given the game design is similar to Outer Worlds, but OW didn't have any verticality in its areas so that might make the difference.

Combat is good, story is bad. I'm ok with that so long as the story is skippable. If i have to sit through lectures its a deal breaker though.

Extremely stingy gear upgrades and perk points. That's easily fixed with mods, but would require waiting for mods. Then again, OW was apparently notoriously difficult to mod so maybe not. Wait and see i guess.

Value wise i'd put that at about the same level as Grounded, given i'd be skipping most of the story content. Unfortunately its more than twice the price of Grounded, so its either GamePass game or heavy discount. It looks worth playing (unlike DA:V) but the value proposition isn't there for me.

Disappointing for sure. My experience was same. After around 6-8 hour it was down the hill fast.
My 5090 ran it like a dream but I ultimately sent the free code back to obsidian and said no thank.

And I'll take Something that never happend for 10 000

Dissent will be crushed and banned as there is only one corect narrative :))
Just clap and buy!

This is because it was designed to be a multiplayer game. Then they canned that idea and left some of the elements. This is why all the npcs are static like an mmorpg.

I'm so disappointed that Obsidian has turned into this. I thought that the stale 'The Outer Worlds' was a one off mishap. But then Avowed turned out to be another round of aggressively mediocre slop :(

Looks like all the real talent is long gone from Obsidian.
