Avowed
HDR support
Please add HDR support. Adding it to Xbox and not to PC makes zero sense whatsoever. This game is made in an engine that has an HDR toggle switch, like please guys it makes no sense.

nvidia rtx HDR does not work on avowed my man and even if it did rtx hdr is garbage in my opinion. Never gotten it to look even remotely good because its just a filter over your image, not actual tonemapping

How could it not be supported by avowed? As you say it's a filter. I have it turned on globally by default. Its just a baseline for me at this point. Even with sdr.

Fair enough. Im surprised because I think it even helps improve native support of hdr in my games. But I know there's a lot of variables in play here from user to user.

Last thought - feel free to ignore lol: Do you have auto hdr turned off in windows? I know that screws with it if they are both turned on.

tbh I think it said unsupported for avowed from before the driver update, not too sure. auto HDR is enabled and I even went so far as to use a program that supposedly forces autoHDR but that still didnt work. for me any time ive used RTX HDR its just caused the scene to be dramatically more contrasted and oversaturated to hell no matter what settings I used. native HDR support always will look best because then the artists themselves are involved in the tonemapping and know how to make it actually look good

No HDR support for a title that is asking $69.99? This is 2025, not 2005. Pass.

I use a program call Auto_HDR force. You need to make sure you use this path and the exe within before it works - D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Avowed\Alabama\Binaries\Win64\Avowed-Win64-Shipping

The exe in D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Avowed will NOT work.

FYI- Game looks much better with HDR!

Hope it helps!

Turn off auto hdr if you try rtx hdr again. It screws with the colors!

I can't get RTX HDR working either. I've disabled windows auto hdr (which didn't work either), and enabled global RTX HDR in the Nvidia app. In game, the filter just keeps telling me to restart the game, but after restart it's still not enabled. RTX dynamic vibrance works but it looks terrible

You can try these solutions which have native HDR support. They cost $6 and $0 respectively

If you have AutoHDR on, it disabled RTX HDR, so thats why it looks so ugly for you.
Disable AutoHDR and force RTX HDR in per game profile

add to engine.ini

[SystemSettings]
r.AllowHDR=1
r.HDR.EnableHDROutput=1
r.HDR.Display.OutputDevice=5
r.HDR.Display.ColorGamut=2
r.HDR.UI.CompositeMode=1
r.HDR.UI.Level=1.5
r.HDR.Display.MidLuminance=6
r.HDR.Display.MaxLuminance=1000

engine.ini /appdata/alabama/saved/config/windows/

this vaguely works, I can tell that its changing the gamut and the luminance values but it seems to break most menus in the game and the shaders seem to flatten out a lot when doing so. Might need to play with some of the settings more to find a sweet spot or something but at least you gave real advice that might help someone, thanks
