'Anti-woke', the new 'woke'?

Remember how SJWs would freak out in the early 2010s at the inclusion of sexualised women in games? The whole 'anti-woke' outcry is basically the modern equivalent of that, except the pendulum is now swinging in the other direction.

In both cases people got upset that the game panders to the opposite 'side' too much.
I think this means 'anti-woke' is becoming the new 'woke' (as in, they're aware of the intentional messaging in many modern games). That then means 'woke' will become the new 'anti-woke', and as the pendulum swings back we'll have the roles flip ad nauseam.

People are too fragile these days, regardless of their affiliation. Remember that any influencer playing into this discourse is using your anger to get a paycheck.

The games industry has been languishing recently, as the seemingly infinite growth has slowed right down (shocking, I know). It'll be fascinating to see which direction the industry shifts in a few years, but I think the 'anti-woke' stuff has become just as cringe as the 'woke' stuff.

Woke is still what it was but now there's much more gaslighting coming from their side. Rejecting one political ideology does not automatically create another political ideology, this is just a resistance movement. Brand it however you like, doesn't change anything.

Honestly gamers were always very inclusive and most of us accepted stories like Life is Strange or The Walking Dead (Telltale), nobody was crying about the skin color or queer characters.

Inserting a political narrative into escapism entertainment without anchoring it into the game world was doomed from the beginning, but as I expected, it wasn't enough to call out consultants and devs who actually did this, now people scream woke at everything that comes out like BG3 or Hades 2...

What I heard is that KCD2 was mainly criticized, because they made Hans, someone who chased women in KCD1 (and is also based on a historical person) the love interest.
This is vastly different from saying the backlash was due to the presence of a homosexual relationship, since it makes it a question of lore/continuity.

So you should always tell the whole story, since you tried to frame it a specific way.

Sure, there are ragebait youtubers that farm engagement and the earth is still turning, but you can hardly say that everyone shares that opinion, so I was referencing your post, I couldn't know how you came to that conlusion.
I personally don't watch influencers or share their opinion (assuming they criticize what you stated) and I think people who criticize the lore/continuity behind the Hans scene shouldn't be put into the same category as those who are actually homophobe.

I always thought both extreme sides are incredibly stupid, which got me flak from both sides, lol.
