What you say is they spawned SWITCHED place, to stand still elswere upon a loading screen.
I can relate to this. Finally...I have representation
I am playing it and I see it, so it is not true.... They are litteraly walking and doing stuff. Not all of them but some yes, other are static but have little phrase or talking to each other.
Just put yourself in the main place, wait and record the NPC around, I really would love to see that and being wrong.
I dunno how to put video but I have screenshot of npc walking around and changing what they were doing though. If you explain me how to put picture here, I would.
I don't care what you like or have any desire to sell you on the game at all. I was simply replying to a post about my experience thus far.
Did you make you post just for a feedback loop on you own opinions?
The context is that NPC are statics, don't roam, don't react to player action and have no AI routine.
Only way to demonstrate that im wrong is to record yourself standing in the middle of the town recording the NPC "life", then doing some rukus to show that they actually react to player action.
You can record with Nvidia, or any capture tool, then you can upload a video on Youtube for free.
It would take you 15-30minutes of your time tho.
I mean no, I have the same character in twice screenshot taking at a few second and you can see them move, then do something after...
They do roam and then do an animation then go to roam again and come back doing animation. Is it a complicated routine? As I stated, no. Perks of coming from 2D to 3D. If you expect me to proves it is bustling with life like kingdom come it is not the case and I didn't pretend such thing. But between static and lifeless and bustling with life there is a huge margin.
Also you state to react by player action... Where did I stated this? You said Static and just standing still. If you move the bar each time we speak, then no need for me to lose time to prove anything as you will not be satisfied anyways.
I though you were actually serious about wanting to see, but I see that it is not the case.
Hope you have a good day and fun with other game then.
Coming to 2D from 3D argument doesn't make sense, no idea what you are implying... Pillars Eternity are 3D isometric games(3D in fake 2D plane), NPC are in 3D and actually have some routine in those game.
Obsidian made New Vegas a full 3D game with NPC roaming, Outer World is also a full 3D game that have NPC roaming etc...
My OP is clear, im serious to aknowedge that im wrong if you mange to provide solid capture proof or any YT footage of NPC roaming or reacting to player action.
I wish you a good day too.
Exactly so that is what I'm saying. The studio used to do 2D and probably didn't put as much though as they had to for routine because it wasn't really a thing in 2D. But In 3D it is noticeable that is a weak part. Not as bad as completely static and lifeless but clearly not as good as even basic 3D games.
The team that made new vegas is almost not the same and in new vegas there wasn't much routine, same for Outerworld.
I don't intend on spending time to convince you since you moved the goalpost. The NPCs does roma around you can stand at any area to see it, they however do not react to PC actions, which is different from lifeless and static.
Good day.
If you have an Nvidia graphics card, can you record it with Nvidia shadowplay and upload it to Youtube and link it here? The game seems quite good to me, especially the story themes and writing. But the world feeling lifeless like in Outer Worlds is a worry I have.
What I loved about games like New Vegas is how every village feels alive, not just a quest hub but a community with characters walking around and going on their business, not just standing there waiting for the player.
I saw Jason Schreier say the game reminded him of New Vegas, so my hopes are a bit high up.
Has very little effect on the actual game part.
