Gods, that static, lifeless town... I loved one of the comments on the YouTube page from someone called Abbab21...
In KCD2, I saw an npc with some sick gear, waited until he finished his shift, followed him home and later that night picked his lock and stole the gear.
2 in game days later I was riding through that town again wearing the armor when I hear someone say "hey...that looks just like my... STOP THIEF." I was then arrested by the same guard in his literal PJs, and the other guards literally called me a dumb ass for being stupid enough to wear stolen gear back in town. After that I was labelled a thief by the locals, and they would make snide comments and the guards wouldn't let me loiter at night without threat of arrest.
Then there's this game, where hollow NPCs stand idle forever, while you take stuff right in front of them without reaction.
Those damn fascists. First they start a war that kills 75 million people, and now they give poor review scores to mediocre games by studios that put propaganda above quality.
btw, 25% more people worked in this game vs skyrim yet the majority opinion is that it's an empty open world, is it really that bereft of content?
SBI had nothing to do with Veilguard...
Yeah you are right, the 2 hour negative reviews, those are the ones we need to focus on, clearly no bias or hidden agenda in those. LMAO
Steam user review is a far better gauge atm, this game sits at 81% approval by the Obsidian hardcore fans (the people who pre-ordered the premium edition).
Lets see how it will fare when the general audience gets their hands on the game tomorrow and the days that follow.
As someone who refunded this game, it sat below my expectations, this is a 30USD game, not a 90USD one. The game tries to go for more gameplay heavy experience (which is boring IMO, if i want a first person fantasy game, there are better options) while sacrificing the story and dialogue options.
Its somewhat the same problem i had with Outer Worlds, it sits between a RPG and a FPS and doesnt do either that well.
Obsidian Studios should really just stick to doing isometric RPGs, they are not the next bethesda and Avowed is worse than Morrowind/Oblivion and Skyrim.
I plan to re-purchase this game when its under heavy discount or if miraculously this game gets heavy mod support to put it on par with the TES games.
For the love of christ, OP, the game only been alive 4 days approx. Don’t count your chickens before they hatch :D
I can both agree and disagree with this statement.
Yes, it´s similar to Outerworlds, for me this time around since I was already ready for it it didn´t came has a shock, while with Outerworlds I left myself go with the hype and didn´t enjoyed that much, didn´t even got the DLCs or finished more than 2 playtroughs I think. I´m willing to even say that while I do like combat more here, so far I remember more player agency on choices (a staple of any game pretending to be RPG, that´s why I never liked Souls Like or Zeldas being tagged RPGs). It is to me personally a game to play on console, and I don´t mean it on a dismissing way or because my PC just can´t handle it if I don´t get a new graphic cards and processor, until DLCs up the RPG elements if they do and the extension of the game (as I feel just like with Outerworld unless you get into exploration and side questing, it´s a kind of short experience) and mod support is added, for me personally, I just feel I rather play it on console with no pretensions just one hour a day.
But with all that being said, I still think it´s good and I feel Obsidian can perfect this amalgam of genres into something more strong. This would only be the second game they made in this style, and while tons of people keep mentioning Fallout NEw Vegas, the reality is that game was made under another company code, it´s not 100% their game, and when it comes down to gameplay, mechanics, or even genre; all those were already there from BEthesda and they had to follow those guidelines. They need to find a better compromise between the multiple genre mechanics, probably commit to more unique takes on the RPG elements and they really need to iron out some of the narrative elements since that´s what made Obsidian famous, and in here it just feels like with Outerworld, like the mixture of wacky and serious elements doesn´t gel well and nothing is particularly dramatic or funny.
But all of this can only happen if they continue persevering. They have now the chance for DLCs on this one and still are developing Outerworlds 2 which I think it´s suppose to come this year as well? I expect at least one schedule change so let´s say early 2026 just in case. I think patience when a dev it´s dwelving into new territories it´s key if we really want products that nock it out of the park. And off course this doesn´t mean they should abandon their C-RPG, or something like Pentiment which was awesome and it was a fantastic idea that devs do smaller proyects to rest and try new ideas.
I don't know OP lol....good luck
My take from the reviews as we all know the score means nothing:
A little better than Vielgaurd but no where close to KCD 2
