Game crashes while compiling shaders.
Game crashes upon launch while compiling shaders with "LowLevelFatalError".

Looks like a LOT of people are having this issue on Intel 13th and 14th gen with NVIDIA cards. I'm on Linux, but it looks like a very common issue on Windows as well.

Trying to launch the game with "-dx11" causes "Fatal error!" after the video followng character creation (which is also exactly what happens to people on Windows who have this issue). Updating drivers didn't help.

Going to install if on my Ally and see if it works on that. If it doesn't and they don't issue a fix relatively quickly, I've got no choice but to refund the game.

i am getting this Fatal alabama UE5 error after longer period of time of playing this game, it looks like some kind of memory leak or something, any word on fix from devs pls? Thanks.
No, there has been no word at all from the devs, nearly 350,000 people can't even get passed the shader screen..which they knew would be a problem for higher end new rigs and rtx40 cards. all we can do is hope and post on their forum.

Obsidian have acted disgracefully, utterly disgraceful during this early access to owners of 13/14th Gen Intel processors which make up the vast majority of their player base hence the pointless and stupid graphics shading which has serious issues with these latest processors, but still the morons kept them knowing there would be serious problems. ...
The Intel debacle with out of the box unsafe overclock/power limits on some motherboards and over-voltage of their entire CPU lineup in Raptor Lake (and Refresh) range is well known, covered and mitigated by Intel.

I guess the usual fallacy of "but it's only in THIS game" explains everything.

This PC is brand new. There isn't one game I can't play on Ultra Graphics. I have 128GB DDR 5 6800mhz ram. My motherboard is unclocked (I wouldn't even know how to clock it), my graphics card rtx5090 again unclocked (again i wouldn't even know where to begin.) I have a 13th Gen Intel processor i7 13700k again unclocked because I wouldn't know how,and it's never really interested me. All I want to do is play games and stream that's it. Yet the fact remains this game and only this game won't let me get past the graphics shader. I have tried all sorts of things, like using -dx11 maybe this is the wrong way to write it, but it skips the shader and goes directly to the character creation screen, then when I go to play the game it instantly fatal errors out. I have tried to change back to dx12 in character creation screen but it still fatal errors.
i swear early access doesnt feel like premium glad i never pre purchase it at least i get some updated version on launch lol
Bump..playing on game pass, but have been getting the UE Alabama fatal error crash every couple mins for the last hour., and it just started after 27 hours of play time so far..and yes, I have a 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13700KF, yet THIS is the only game I have any problems with...nothing from the devs on this?!
***Tweak Windows Cryptography***
Windows Cryptography setting is the reason for Avowed crashing when it’s compiling shaders. You can fix this issue by adjusting the Cryptography setting, and here is how you can do it:

Type “regeedit” in Windows search and open Windows Registry.
Navigate to “Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography”.
Double-click the “MachineGuid” file.
Change the value to “d1eb246e-6243-4460-a88e-5d4e52b1ef6b” and press OK.
Play Avowed and the shader compilation crash is fixed.

I tried this fix, seems to be working for now.

I got it to work by clicking properties in the exe file and selecting “run as admin”, “run compability mode for windows 8” and “disable full screen optimisations”

I don't know how you figured that out but you're a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ god, 3 days of searching and hearing about replacing the motherboard, card and power supply and that was all it took xd

That is an old workaround to CPU instability, and if you do have one of those Intel CPUs that have known degradation issue it won't stop it from dying.
I tried a lot of stuff from different people
I put the exe "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Avowed\Alabama\Binaries\Win64\Avowed-Win64-Shipping.exe" in Windows 8 compatibility mode and since then it works, however, it recalculates the shaders at each launch

Well, according to the fanboys here, the game runs perfectly and crashes don't happen. If you're having a problem, it's apparently a YOU problem.

there is no fanboy in this problem, of course it is a problem of the game, no matter, we have to find a solution, and this is the solution I found to play it, I do not want to wait 15 days for a patch

I've been playing it for 7 hours now thanks to this manipulation
