Avowed Is A Shallow Experience Claims TheGamer review
When you say a game is ‘unfinished’, it conjures up very specific images. Ones filled with flat textures, blank NPC faces, clipping through walls and floors, and a general bugginess blockading your every move. Despite Avowed director Carrie Patel warning players of “jank”, this is not the way Avowed is unfinished. It is unfinished on a deeper, and unfortunately far less fixable, level than simply needing a couple of weeks to work out the kinks.

Every avenue you explore in Avowed feels like a dead end. It’s a game that strives for a depth it cannot achieve, but has overcommitted to that depth. At one point I spoke with a council, and both members were dismissive of my plan.. Privately, one of them found me afterwards to admit it was a ruse and plot against the other. I told the other and… she didn’t believe me. Nothing changed, it was the illusion of role-playing inside a set narrative. Another time I had no choice but to fight characters marked as ‘Desperate Smugglers’ before reaching the top of their camp and discovering these smugglers were desperate, at which point I had the option - which was really an obligation - to help them instead. There are dozens of examples of this, big and small, across Avowed.

Yeah, weak try to speak about the game. It is very good, im reading a very long review which said main quest is over 30 hours long and game is very big, and packed with bags of Pillars lore. And game is very good despite haters efforts.

No there are the usual "very small" sites, that nobody knows about giving it 85-93 in score, but the medium and larger sites are more towards 60-75
Since there are so many of the small, its sitting higher up in ranking. you can see my big thread about it, that is more statsbased.

There are abit of everything in the reviews.
What I can see is.

1. This is not really a deep RPG
2. Gameplay is fun if you like Action Adventure style
3. Pillers of Eternity fans will be disappointed, but if you like number 2 you are good
4. Its buggy, janky, etc.
5. Gameplay is the main aspect of this one, not story or interactions.

It all depends on whom you are.. I want more RPG centric games, so I did good by holding off, dispite liking Pillars of Eternity. But on the otherhand, this seems more enjoyable then many would suggest, if you like the gameplay presented.

I hope you get to enjoy the game and have many hours of fun.

The same larger sites also gave veilguard perfect score, so yea... at the end of the day, you need to watch some of the gameplay videos and see if the game is for you
Mortishill and Fextrafraud are one of worst reviewers out there. If they like this game then it must be awful.

Even the sites that give it a good score talks about the issues of the game and bugs.
Overall it seems like a mainstream console Action Adventure with a dash of RPG elements...

This is what most of us expected.. scores don´t matter (no matter if they are high or low) but I think the one above is on to something with the game being shallow.. it does have good elements, but all is to shallow.

Patel even said this herself.. they did not create deep characters or interactions and that is why it went the way it did with story, followers and romance (that there is nothing about)

Both are very stats based. They don´t play for actual RPG elements.
Mortismor is known for only caring about stats, gameplay and achievements.. Basically ignoring core RPG elements such as story, interactions and agency.

Same goes with Fextra.. albeit they are more allaround atleast when reviewing. I am seldom in agreement with them on much.
There is a few, as much as I dislike that Matty guy, I often agree with them on many games atleast on a more overall level.. I will list that review here.

It will be interesting if Worthabuy does a review of this.
Damn I paid 1$ for this!

Well, if it sucks when I try, I'll just play Age Of Empire or somerhing. lol

That they reference the janky misquote/misinformation (almost disinformation now) is dumb. At least there isn't really any and one of the pros.

They all differ. The reviews are mixed.
You have everything from 60 score to 93 score.

Most large game journos give it 6 or 7.. so its not really a game that is getting much praise (6 and 7 are basically what they give games that are barely functional.. I know its silly)

If you look at youtuber and fan reviews.. then it pretty much said this is a good game for people that like Action Adventures on Console.. If you like more deep RPG elements or wanted more Pillars of Eternity lore and feeling, then you would be disappointed.

I don´t care how long a mainquest is.. some claim its 12 hours (reviews) some 35 hours... I reckon it depends on playstyle and maybe some do sidequest that they think are mainquest..

Overall however this game can be played for a long time if you want... but again, mixed reviews, some like the gameplay, some hate it.

I am glad I held off after watching a few.. but I also fully understand why some might fully love this game.. its about what you seek.. I wanted a more RPG centric game, but those that wants Action oriented Adventure game is getting a fun game.
