Then there's people who use GamePass so ordering through Steam would be pointless.
Then there's people who get the game via resellers at a discount, who won't show up on Steam until they get a key.
Then there's folks like me who tend not to pre-order games before getting some concrete idea of how the game plays. I want to see some reviews from people who have played it post release.
As far as we know not day one though.
Obsidian is an XBox Studio so Avowed comes to GamePass on day one, as will The Outer Worlds 2.
I have no need for GamePass because there's a lot of games on there that do not interest me. I will buy an Avowed key at a discount shortly after launch because the asking price is nutty badgers.
yes, me.
The game's sales rank is 404 (interesting number).
And that's quite worrisome for a big title releasing in 3 weeks.
Obsidian has been my favorite studio, I really hope this unnecessary behavior doesn't cost them dearly.
At this point however, it's damned if they do, damned if they don't. Even if they starting laying people off it would be "too little too late" for the majority of angry people. It does go without saying that he's been given a talking to at the very least, since his Bsky account has been radio silence since that night.
They might think twice about how they discuss things internally as well, considering the messages that were leaked. I've seen this happen before, where a handful of people on a team get complacent, assuming everybody feels the same way and all it takes it one person to disagree and share something with the media and your whole team is in hot water, even those who just keep their heads down and do the work.
I've been in this situation before, and its not pleasant.
totally organic post
I want to buy it, but I'm going to wait.
