I was actually raised way out in the woods. I shot a bear when I was about 14. I don't think the round even penetrated the fur. Kinda scary really. He just looked at me like "what the hell was that?" and I was pretty much done.
it kinda depends on what you mean. My dad built an electric generator that fed off the same creek that provided the water supply for the house and the hydroponics garden. it wasn't what I would call "roughing it".
That is being way too generous. Have you never spent a night in the darkness of the woods in winter?
Even a couple of days would be generous but you would grant them 1-2 weeks?

I have, hunting Moose in Alaska. it was not fun. It's not a normal kind of cold it gets inside your bones and it feels like there's no amount of heat that will fix it.
