Oh no, I'm not saying Steam should be like Reddit, I'm just saying that it should have this one feature which is shared by Reddit.
Just because Reddit has become ...lets say not so great, doesn't mean they didn't implement some good policies.
Can't be picky when problem solving.
Nothing against you, you're trying to think of ways to make a forum better and I respect that. I'm just automatically against sectioning anybody off, though.
One of the weights that we must bear as people that value free speech, is that we have to also allow speech that we disagree with personally, to exist. We have to allow other points of view to be spoken, and we have to take the risk to say something that might rock the boat, sometimes. That's true free speech.
They are completely ignoring this board. It's not being treated as anything official.
That is interesting. It was the complete opposite on the Dragon Age Veilguard forums, they had a community manager from the devs getting in that mess, too.
I'm kidding, he's just an insufferable [redacted] who loves 'cleaning up' forums from anti woke chuds or some non sense. You'll know him when you see him. Already made his mark on Veilguard, Unknown 9, Dustborn. For context, this sums up everything you need to know: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1477940/discussions/2/4638239688793017882/
The steam forum rules are exceedingly fair and very leniently enforced with a great deal of grace. There are some VERY problematic people who seem to go on insane , emotionally fueled reporting sprees and there are some who get caught int that madness but it doesn't happen often and on the whole all that is needed to avoid it is simply to speak respectfully toward others.
people, including yourself Butcher, who feel the need to use a sock-puppet account fall into one of several categories:
Paranoid folks (they get a pass in my book because I can't honestly say that it isn't justified.)
Trolls who think it is funny to cause social drama even though there is clearly already too much of that (it used to be funny and it just isn't anymore but they didn't notice)
Bad actors, who are out to cause actual harm to open discussions, silence discourse on any subject they don't like and avoid the just consequences.
The VERY THEORETICAL government agents who may be playing a role to ferret out the also HIGHLY hypothetical terrorists they NEED to believe are hiding among a lot of gamers so that they can continue to get the sweet sweet funding they crave even in their sleep (if they even exist).
and worthy of mention the legitimate level 0 accounts who I musty say, it is very unlikely care about the forums, unless the only reason they made a steam account was to comment on some subject that they don't really deserve a voice in since they don;t plan on playing any games in the first place. neither of these last two need to be posting anything.
