Yes, Obsidian could re-enter my good graces by IMMEDIATELY firing him, I will admit that. But until then, I am sorry if you just can't see it, but a bona fide racist being one of the biggest recipients of any profit the game makes really IS a big enough deal to justify just shelving the entire idea of giving that company money for this product. I really want to scream: obviously so!
It certainly doesn't hurt that there are going to be plenty of other things to play in 2025, let alone February.
Yes they are, there is however one major difference between a ttrpg and a video game. A ttrpg you play in real life with friends, and its unlikely you hang out with people you consider to be intolerable jerks, right? A PC title is in that respect a bit more like a movie, you have some guy you have no personal relationship acting a bit like a director of a movie. Compare one person telling a story to his friends vs one person telling a story to thousands, sometimes millions of people.
At a table of friends there will be tables who would love to focus on everyones pronouns when makingn characters, there will however also be lots of tables that wouldnt like that, and most DMs will know their players well enough to tell. (altho I guess r/dnd horror stories is a thing) XD
This is why when some guy in charge of art direction for a video game rpg starts acting like an unlikable jerk (and the studio he works for doesnt react) that kinda sends the signal that he probably isnt alone in holding such opinions at the studio and playing this game will be like sitting down to play a ttrpg with a bunch of intolerable jerks.
They will just have to find a way to force people to buy those games.
Or at least force the gamers to give them money even if they don't play.
Look at profile, most played game VRCHAT, OK. OKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
