You already got called out on your other lies and ignorance, why are you trying for round 2?
Avowed: The team at Obsidian will share the first deep dive into the gameplay experience fans can expect in Avowed, their upcoming fantasy action RPG, set in the fantastical, vibrant Living Lands. Learn more about how Obsidian’s expertise in building worlds with deep themes, dynamic gameplay, and thoughtful reactivity come to life in Avowed where players will have agency to make choices to shape every step of their adventure.

Even with Fallout NV, you had VATs, you have gore/dismemberment, and funny ragdolls, but in both The Outer World and Avowed, attacks look/feel floaty, non impactful, weightless, and ragdolls have that cheap slump over effect that early access games always have.
Also after buying into The Outer Worlds on release, I don't want to endure anymore of that boring, and forced "inclusive" writing that they shove into their games. The Outer Worlds was just the most non memorable and generic RPG I have played in a long time and I would much rather have a terrible game you can joke around with then a boring game that is just "ok".
I don't care for CRPGs but Obsidian seem much more tailored for those type of games and not real-time action RPGs where they actually have to make interesting combat systems/mechanics.
It might sound harsh but after The Outer Worlds and upon seeing the "gameplay" of Avowed my hope of them ever achieving something even close to a New Vegas, or even past Bethesda games (Oblivion, Skyrim,..etc) is very very low. I'm probably going to pass on this game.
Hellblade 2 though looks ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ incredible. Hands down the best graphics in a game.
I watched it all. That was supposed to be a "Deep Dive" xD?
My observations:
- All we got was fragments of Hack and Slash like combat (no pure unedited gameplay footage with UI, inventory etc.) and 1 dialogue with "choices" (only 3 options to choose from; worse than in Fallout 4). Devs were constantly talking about combat and it seems that combat is the center of the game....
Problem is that this combat looked like directly from Oblivion (2006) and will NOT satisfy Soulslike/Action RPG fans. So they will pi*s off classic RPG/PoE fans by focusing on combat so much AND combat focused games because combat that they showed us looks very bad for a AAA 2024 title.
- Bad face animations during dialogue. Funny thing is that it looks that they imported them directly from Outer Worlds 1 (which was released in 2019; that was 5 years ago and animations/graphics were already outdated back then)...
- Textures look blurry and very outdated. They look like late PS3/early PS4. Where is this "Next Gen"? They got unlimited Microsoft money...
- Lighting is too bright, world looks cartonish and doesn't feel like a Pillars of Eternity world. It looks like Outer Worlds 1...
- Main story? There is a mysterious plague. Cure it and save the world. BORING.
- What about RPG systems, character customization, character creation, classes, perks, skills etc? We got nothing.
- And release date? "Fall 2024". New delay with a possibility of another delay into 2025...
I wasn't expecting to get such bad "Deep Dive" into the world of Avowed. It seems that golden days of Obsidian are now long lost.
Josh Sawyer had nothing to do with this game, he focused on his dream project; Pentiment. Good game, though it's very different from other Obsidian games.
It seems that Avowed was restarted from scratch at least once, which suggests that development was (is?) stuck in development hell at some point.
The world looked less saturated/vibrant than the last trailer but the light is a little too much still. The shots showing the cliffs were pretty overexposed (possibly a byproduct of capturing HDR footage for an SDR video), to the point where some detail was being lost on the cliff faces. I'll reserve judgment on the story until I actually play, a lot of great stories sound awful when summarized in a sentence or two.
It's on gamepass so nothing lost for me, but I don't think that was a promising showing to those that were considering buying the game. It's a good thing they showed Avowed before Hellblade 2 or Indiana Jones as both of those look fantastic and would've made Avowed look even worse if it had been shown after
But I'll indulge:
Please provide me with examples of this supposed lack of understanding of mine, show me don't talk about it.
Aside from you clearly not understanding how Microsoft's gaming division is structured and then trying to insult others who pointed out that you were wrong and why you were wrong, you also clearly don't understand that games designed specifically for PC work just fine on consoles when devs put in the effort. Flight Sim, Elite: Dangerous, Age of Empires 2 and 4, even Command & Conquer Red Alert 25 years ago was ported to console without any issue.
I do hope though that Obsidian are not replacing the CRPG genre with this first person style they're going with in Avowed should the game be really successful.
All good if they wanna make new games in different styles but I hope they continue making Isometric games as well.
