inZOI
So why is the player responsible for the karma of the entire town?
I was surprised to get notifications about karma levels when I had positive karma only to realize I was apparently supposed to "scold" random people with negative karma to keep the overall karma levels positive around town. Am I missing the point or is that just a weird and pointless mechanic? I don't need to know who's been good or bad, I'm not Santa Claus.

This confuses me too. I know we can adjust the town karma in the management section but why? What is it for?

It is annoying and not very realistic that if you have bad interactions with a few zois you get bad karma and every zoi in town has a negative reaction towards you. Most normal people have a wide variety of relationships with people, good, bad, whatever and it doesn't effect how everyone in the entire town feels about you.

I agree it's incredible annoying and tedious.
It might be the beginning of a bigger, more interesting feature.
Right now the only thing it really does is control whether or not you get ghosts. At this point I'd rather they just remove ghosts entirely rather than have to listen to the cat constantly complain about how some random townie didn't vacuum five times today and now has low karma.

You are not the zoi. Remember the blurb about the AI company? You control the world, through mostly one zoi family or multiple families. That's the game. The game is mostly played at the mental or relationship level. The premise is that everyone in the city is connected with each other through relationships. So nudging the karma of the city would be akin to making adjustments to the (relationship level) environment of the game during its current play-through. Thus directing the game further.

That's the principle of the game, the core aspect.
you don't play a family like in Sims. even if you can control one and play it like Sims.
You are first and foremost an employee of a company that cares about virtual worlds.
you are responsible for managing the new virtual world. which you create with a request when you create a new game. If your management is too bad you will supposedly get into trouble with your boss, Outside the virtual world. or the Cat.

You can care about the world or not, it's up to you. if you want it like in Sims just ignore it and play only your family like it is Sims.

intervene in bad or good karma, are something like blows of fate.
Bad Karma a lot of bad luck A intervene only gives him a chance to change.
Whether he accepts the charge is at the discretion of the Zoi.
Good Karma intervening is also a stroke of fate, but something good like winning the lottery or something.
The karma system is also there to know how things are going as a manager of the world.
whether the zoos in your virtual world tend to do good or bad deeds.

Edit: Karma also influences your life after death, your eternal rest and so. People with bad karma are not granted eternal rest. and become the evil spirits.

Karma seems to decide how your Zoi behaves. Good karma = Good behavior.
But it looks like it's broken. If you leave your Zoi to the mercy of AI, karma will drop like a brick. The AI makes your Zoi do bad things.

Someone actually paid attention to the game design, and is not complaining before understanding the idea behind it.

The Karma system is getting a lot of criticism every day, so we expect a fix update soon.

Don't worry.

In inzoi you don't play with a zoi or several zoi (which is also the case), it's related to the management of a city.

However, the fact that the player has to enter every so often to press a button and see an animation... that's annoying and not the best way to sell a feature. It also doesn't help that the system is not fully implemented, so the only thing that gets through to the player is the annoyance of having to press buttons with a repetitive animation over and over again.

If there are players who are bothered by this issue, they can go to city management, change the civic behaviour and positive karma to the maximum and reduce the negative karma to the minimum.

Of course, the karma panel will still have notifications as it will warn you regardless of whether there are zois with extremely negative karma or the other way around or a mixture of both.

What I see more and more clearly is that the developers should manage a more dynamic tutorial as soon as possible so that the player understands different aspects of the game. And removing that animation when punishing or rewarding zois in the karma panel management is a must.

Yep. ANNNND the Karma system will tie in with the upcoming update in August when the Ghosts(wew Ghost month for us in Asia, smart move releasing it that time) are out and about. So ya the system makes a lot of sense. Also because we're just an overseer in the worlds we make. Why you think there's a cat there next to us?

Hopefully they'll add the story in-game to explain more to players WHY our character took this job. I bet everyone mostly skipped that animated intro.
I only read the available info on the Steam page when I got the game I didn't see karma mentioned so I appreciate the above kind answers.

I did understand it's more about the whole city management I just think I'm used to games where the game play makes me complete tasks before I'm fully playing so I get a grasp on how it works.

I'm not saying the game needs this but apparently I need to explore the guide and try to find the info there. I did just look at the movement controls and then dived in rather the try to read a whole guide.

I do only have 13 hours in game I'm still exploring and learning as I go along.

Thanks again. As a deaf player the animated intro just looked good to me.

A tutorial will definitely come so that the game systems can be understood by everyone. and to best understand Karma you need to know a little bit about what the IRL Karma System is. that what is being attempted in the game with full development.

I have already posted the current technical aspect,
here a little about IRL Karma.
here is a short description. for whom it interests. lol

Karma is derived from the Sanskrit word "karman," meaning "deed" or "action." The law of karma assumes that a person's good deeds will have a positive impact on their life—and their bad deeds will have negative consequences.
every action—whether thought, word, or deed—produces a corresponding reaction.
and you will either be rewarded or punished by fate. fate in this case the game AI

Karma influences your life from birth to death. and even after, your afterlife or you next life. etc
