Door Permissions Need A Tweak
Just putting it out there so it's on someone's radar:

I started a friendship (well, a "friendship") with one of the pre-made townies in Bliss Bay, Hazel Collins. After inviting her out and over to my place a few times, I decided it would be fun to go visit her at her house. When I got there, I discovered that Hazel couldn't let me into their house because all the doors were set to be locked to everyone except "People I Know."

Ofc, I do know Hazel -- very well -- so she should be able to let me in, right? Wrong. I switched over to Hazel to see what the problem was and it turns out that the "Only People I Know" rule for the doors only applies to people her husband knows. It doesn't matter if Hazel knows them or not.

I tried to have Hazel change the door permissions to "unlocked" so it wouldn't matter if her husband knew my Zoi or not, but it turns out Hazel isn't allowed to change the door permissions in her own house. Only her husband can change them.

Even worse, when I arrived at their house, literally every one of their sinks was broken, their computer was sparking, and their refrigerator had exploded. Controlling Hazel, I had her call a repair person to come fix everything but, when he showed up, she couldn't invite him in (bc her husband didn't know him, I guess?), so he just stood in the front yard for several minutes and then left without fixing anything. Same thing happened when I tried to call a maid.

I ended up having to call her husband home from an event and have him unlock all the doors so that service workers could get inside and my Zoi could visit his bestie, Hazel.

IDEALLY, any adult who lives in the house should be able to change permissions for the doors. Unless you're trying to roleplay a controlling, abusive husband who forbids his wife from having visitors unless he's vetted them first, having just one Zoi in a family control who can and can't enter the house is madness.

Something similar happened to me when I visited houses to see what they were like. Generally everything was full of ♥♥♥♥ and many domestic appliances and water taps were broken.

And of course I couldn't get in (lock icon). For this last issue I discovered something really wonderful that I didn't use in my zoi's house (I didn't know they even existed in build mode).

The doorbells.

With this I solved the issue of access to the npcs lots. Ringing the doorbell seems to change the permissions of the door.

Unfortunately the issue of the dirt and broken junk that are the npcs houses needs to be fixed or just not implemented properly yet.

Regardless of whether the zois were to open the door for you (I don't think it's implemented or even going to), were you able to enter the house?
I mean I always leave my doors open to anyone. My home refrigerator is like a public supermarket. Half the city is in my kitchen and bathroom. Have to brush my teeth as the convenance store as I can't make use of my shower. Then again my issues are ones of my own choosing. But I do know in the game the door permissions very often bug out right now.

I have been testing it again and visited a zoi family and it doesn't work. I didn't expect the zois to come to the door but at least the icon to unlock or some kind of notification... nothing.

So it needs to be implemented or it's bugged.

I'm thinking that what happened to me another time was strange behaviour or just a coincidence. I remember one of the zois in that house was outside in the garden of his house. Maybe that was it?

Conclusion: In this latest test I have not found any way to enter the house of another zoi family controlled by the game with the zoi you control.

Edit: I did it!!! I quit the game, reloaded and this time two zois came out when I pressed the doorbell. They didn't talk directly to my zoi but as soon as they were outside the lock icon unlocked and I was able to enter the house.

It's clearly buggy but now I know it's implemented but it clearly doesn't work as it should.

On a similar note.. i'd like the ability for any zoi not just head of household (oldest) to set door permissions... for example.. a sister doesn't want her little brother to go into her room she should be able to set the door so he can't but everyone else in family can.

I find NPC's never answer the door ring cam thing, they don't even acknowledge/react to it so I just swap to their household, unlock every door and switch back all the while the games in pause speed so my actual currently played avatar doesn't wander off. A rigmarole and not very immersive but its better than no possible interactions for the time being.
I wish roommates could set a door permission for themselves, I have 4 roommates living in an apartment building with one apartment per four floors. Each roommate has their own apartment. It would be nice to assign each roommate their door to their apartment.
