Characteristics won't change with cheat
Can someone please explain the exact steps I need to take to change these characteristics? It auto assigned slacker to one of my zois and malicious to the other. I enabled cheats from the menu, then opened the cheat console, and then typed setTrait [Zoi ID] [Trait ID] [Characteristic ID] [Characteristic ID]

It's not working. I typed it by leaving the brackets out and filing in the numerical zoi id followed by the word based IDs for the other three. I typed it by leaving the brackets in and typing it all. I tried only typing it with one characteristic ID. I tried every combination I can think of and it does nothing. Sometimes it says failed to apply cheat or something like that but usually it says nothing. I tried it on both zois, no result on either. Do you have to do something else? Or something afterwards? Or reboot the game for it to take effect? All the other cheats I tried, like money, work just fine. So do I need to type setTrait [9000] or setTrait 9000 or setTrait [Zoi ID 9000] or what?

I started this game a long while back and just added in the updates this week. The newer cheats will work on an old save right? The other cheats work fine on this save.

Also, what is up with these awful behaviors in marriage? I created a custom zoi for mine to marry, so he wasn't an NPC. They got married, the romance bar is totally full, as are all the bars. They are constantly lovestruck with each other. The day after the wedding, he wanted to spy on her on the computer! He then followed that up by expressing a desire to cheat and sneak out on a blind date because he 'might find someone better'. This was day two of the marriage. I had given him the Sentinel trait but the game auto assigned him slacker and extroverted.

Why is this happening? Are men dogs by default in this game? Their relationship has been good since I put him in the game and he doesn't have anything like commitment issues or even any romantic traits. She has the charmer trait and the game gave her malicious and workaholic and she hasn't acted like that. He's just a jerk and a terrible husband for no reason! I have all the AI crap turned off, and I have autonomy off as well, but I'm worried he's gonna do it and destroy the marriage if I leave him alone for too long while she's out and about. Any way to stop this? Can I erase these bad wishes? Or does anyone know why it is happening? When he is not lovestruck, he is ecstatic or confident so he's not overall unhappy either.

No, you don't need to reboot your system after changing the characteristics. First, enter showzoiinfo true. Then note the number sequence displayed above the Zoi whose traits/characteristic you want to change.

As an example, type the following: setTrait xxxxxx Romantic Active Genius.
Now, you should have a Zoi with Romantic, Active, and Genius settings.

Thank you! It did work today, but didn't work yesterday. My game was super glitchy yesterday after one zoi fell through the map and I had to use the emergency rescue. After that it thought my other zoi was at work when she wasn't (and wasn't scheduled to be) so it kept popping up with her work tasks, and other weird stuff. Today I reloaded an earlier save from before he fell through the map and the cheats worked perfectly the first time.

Since I'm just getting back into this game now after a few major updates, I noticed the karma system is gone. Do you think trying to play with an old file from when that was still active might be why the male zoi is trying to do bad things? He had max high karma before, and had the sentinel trait which is supposed to value family. I just don't understand where his behavior is coming from. Also, my female zoi rejected woo hoo for no reason? They were still at max relationship, both had needs mostly full, and they'd been having positive romantic interactions. She was already at lovestruck and he was almost there too. She claimed they weren't 'close enough for that yet' despite the fact that they are married and had been having sex every prior night. He got +3 points to flustered for that. I normally play the Sims as a family player/builder and I'm trying to figure out if this game doesn't handle marriage well yet or if these are glitches due to it being a file from the original game version. I'm just curious if other people are having the same issues even with new save files.

Thanks again for your help!
I'm glad that the character customization worked for you. And yes, I also needed emergency rescue today, because since the update, some of my Zois no longer avoid each other when they want to go through a door, or they get stuck in an endless dance loop that cannot be interrupted.

Some updates required a fresh start with a new save file. After every major update, I started from scratch because the family tree wasn't integrated. Now I hope I can keep my current save file.

Oh yes, it happens again and again that a “flirtation” is rejected. Sometimes it helps to perform other romantic actions and then try it again.

I know just what you mean about the endless loops. My least favorite is trying to get them to eat dinner together. 2 zois, plenty of chairs, yet they sit down and get back up and play musical chairs until one of them just eats standing up or goes to the fridge to take out leftover chinese noodles instead of eating the food in their hands!

Thanks for the info about some of the updates requiring a fresh start. I think I'm going to have to start a new game because it's still pretty glitchy. I'm just trying to travel to Cahaya and Bliss Bay first to get a sense of which city I want to restart in. At least I have both zois saved in character creation!
