Anyone else disappointed?
The demos dropped this week and to be honest, I was a little disappointed. No differing heights between characters, an open world with static lot placement and limited residential lots, bare bones careers, bare bones animations between characters, cutscenes for alot of stuff that should probably be actual gameplay like proposals, weddings, and having a baby. I dunno, this just looks and feels like a prettier, realistic version of Sims 4 to me with open neighborhoods. Even their speech sounds like Simlish.

I know you shouldn't feed the trolls, but first off I'm a woman. My username would be a good indicator of that if you had any reasonable reading conprehension skills and leaned how to read basic context clues in elementary school. Second, people are different heights in real life. If it's a life sim, I expect there to be different heights for characters in 2024. This had nothing to do with sex and just expecting the bare minimum from a game that seems to be largely built around aesthetics.
i can actually explain to you why different heights aren't a good idea, and i'm going to use the sims as an example

now the sims never had this naturally, but mods added them, and they didn't work very well

when people kissed, their lips wouldn't touch, hugs looked weird, and any interaction with another sim wouldn't work very well.

this would push the game back a lot for something that really isn't that important to begin with.

They could make it work if they wanted to. I think they just don't due to lack of interest. I mean, when you play a parent in the Sims you can obviously hug your child so, it definitly could work.

Looks like The Sims meets Second Life, but without the vast library of user created content that old virtual world has.

We'll see how it turns out with user created content, their web site rambling on about GenAI does *not* look promising to me, though.

I do like the idea of being able to turn my city into a post-apocalyptic wasteland, though XD

"No differing heights"

Pov : how you can tell he is in to lolly stuff... lmao

No some people just like having the guy be taller than the girl because that is how it is most of the time in real life. Stop being a leftist or right wing extremist with dumb hot takes on the internet. Let people express their opinions without all the gaslighting political crap.

It lets tall women shrink, and midget men pretend to be tall, so things often become quite exaggerated through overcompensation.

Yeah it's the same in Starfield. It's an easy way out for developers with animations but it kinda sucks for the consumers.

nope i like what i saw even though its gameplay from a pre alpha build thats missing alot of features. (too early too make actual proper judgment based off a pre alpha)
Holobird 20/ago./2024 às 3:58
its fresh and they are applying peoples requests for the future. Its been an pre -alpha demo as well so its not going to be polished. I love how its coming along it is more sandboxy. And i'm not giving ea any more money but i want to play life sims lol

Yes it "technically" could work but I think you're underestimating how much work would go into it to make it look realistic. The reason it's possible to do with parents and toddlers in the Sims is because an adult sim is a certain size and a toddler a certain size. There's no variation.

I think what most people mean when they talk about height in a game is they want it to exist a "height slider" so they can make a character exactly any height they want. Anything from super short to super tall. Having a game world filled with so many different characters, all being different heights, would be very difficult to code to make them interacts realistically with each other.

But if we had, let's say 3 different height options that you could choose from (short, medium and tall) it would be easier to implement.

What demo? Store page says nothing at all about a demo.

Not really a demo, but some content creators play around with the alpha version, and you can watch them on YouTube playing the game.

This is a rare case where I'd say it looks like what I would expect from Early Access. All the systems are there, the foundations are laid, and the things that are missing (careers, animations, variety and cosmetics basically) are all just content that can be filled in as development progresses.

and building system than the Sims has ever had. You can create your own clothing designs in the game. You can create different furniture designs and 3D objects.
But can you build on a mountain cliff or just sloped hill using constrainFloorElevation cheat like in sims 2 or 3?
What's the point of those objects when the ground is flat and shallow like all modern gaming.
1. It's brand new IP
2. Still in early access, it will be improved over time, like The Sims when they were released.

If you comparing and crying about this and that when comparing to The Sims, you still a kid. Oldies knows the history of The Sims, even for a casual player. Not enough candy for everyone.
