inZOI
generative AI?
based on what I can see it looks like the game uses gen AI, can anyone confirm or deny?
it sucks bc I was really looking forward to playing this but I refuse to support companies that use gen AI, it steals from artists, and is really environmentally harmful

It's confirmed. AI generation is very good in this game because you can generate patterns for your clothes and furniture. It also works for generating things from the real world through the app. (You take a picture of something and generate it in the game) I honestly feel that it's not something to dislike or go against artists.
If you use gen AI to produce an in-game chair from an image, for example, is that really "stealing"? It is not a real chair, and is not taking sales of said chair away from whoever designed it. In fact, it could be argued to be publicity, free advertising.

In any case, this is a SP game, so generally any stuff produced using AI is going to be used on an individual basis, rather than massively shared. Hopefully people will use Canvas to share their creations, rather than plagiarise and claim designs to be their own. If not, it is not AI that is doing the stealing...
it says on the games store front, so that's confirmed, its at the bottom it says what it uses gen ai for

The character creator had AI to make texture patterns for outfits its an awesome feature and i fully support the use of AI to enhance the game creative process and ill continue to support any game that uses AI to enhance the gameplay experience.
its gonna have generated AI,
what's with this odd movement against AI? its gonna happen weather you like it or not.

real devs for the past decade wren't that different from AI, i would go far to say the real devs(on the western side) were making things worse.

I am kind of looking forward to seeing how effective AI is in this game. The argument about stealing from artists is kinda moot, since AI cannot make the item scanned identical to the product scanned. Best way to think of it is like prescriptions. You have the regular item, and generic. generic is nearly identical (sometimes identical) to the original, just not name brand. How is that not stealing, yet AI is? Walmart too, you have name brand, and great value brand. Slightly changed ingredients for same item. Again, not stealing. Just my thoughts :)

Generative AI does not steal, and without evidence you can't really accuse the trainers of AI models of stealing either. GenAI does not "reproduce" or "facsimile" stuff created by "real" artists, it simply learns to associate certain pixels and colors with certain words, or tokens. That's it. It literally pulls images from the ether. It's not a secret database of stolen artwork, and every time you prompt it chooses someone else's art to show you... that's what Google does lol.

Also, IIRC the AI features of InZOI are in the live generation of assets and text while playing the game. I'd have to re-read the disclaimer, but this game will actually use in real-time genAI for gameplay purposes, rather than just assets created using it. Very exciting stuff, tbh.

OP, I recommend you educate yourself on what genAI is, how it works, and what it doesn't do.
there is a limit to what is available.

There is a library of allowances. Copyrighted items get flagged. SO no Disney stuff or certain copyrighted things (unless later they make a deal with them).

you search for images and what is allowed gets listed.

honestly i fully embrance AI specialy if it wide opens the doors for indie devs to create big games to compete with triple A enterprises.
I play with a lot of chat bots and always thought it would be sweet if there was a sim's style version of it, where you could interact with them on a different level. This game looks like a huge step in that direction. If it's done right, it'll be so much cooler than the grunting and pointing sims, or any amount of pre-written lines that will inevitably get stale. A game with nearly limitless content and replay value. Sounds awful...

AI is not stealing nothing. When humans are taking inspiration from someone is it stealing too? That's what AI doing, it's learning from all the art and then creating own art based on what it was learn on.

I hope more game developers will implement AI in the games. NPC will be more human like. AI Zois will react to everything around them randomly, everytime they will react differently

I just want to say ♥♥♥♥ you to everyone who commented "AI isn't stealing"
here's several links to articles proving it is:

Plus a link to copyright infringement lawsuits against AI:

though I'm not really sure if it'll help because honestly AI bootlickers aren't really known for reading
It's not cool to let your personal opinion mess with everyone's gaming experience. If you're not into it, you can just not play : ):steamhappy:

and I'm messing with everyone's gaming experience how? I initially only asked for info, and I'm getting bashed because I don't support gen AI and it's harmful practices, as for my latest post, I hardly doubt posting links to actual information will ruin anyone's gaming experience, and if it does turn them away from gen AI and games that use it, good. AI steals from artists and destroys the environment. don't believe me? well I already linked proof in my previous message, go check that out.
