Sims 4 is horrible, shallow and Sims 5 got cancelled, so the niche is quite open.
I agree with what you say. But in the end it will become the sims 5 that wasn't released. For now one of the mechanics that seemed original to me like random death at any age (once fully implemented) has already been removed so that only old people die for that reason. Just like the sims.
It's true that developers are beholden to customers and players, of course, but they should have certain limits when adding new features that are a copy-paste of sims 4 and not keep their essence.
It is true that there are features that are in high demand (like adding an ageing on/off toggle), but others should be more stable from the developers point of view while keeping their originality.
I was surprised how fast they removed random death because of some complaints instead of keeping it and providing some option to disable it for those who don't want to use it.
It's too early anyway and I think they are overwhelmed. When they get used to the success they will do things in a more planned way. At least that's what I think and hope.
