Yes you can.
I used the following method.
Say you want the shirt from preset 1, and trousers from preset 2.
Apply preset 1.
Save the preset. This will give you a copy of preset 1 applied.
Note the shirt used in this preset from the available options (row x, col y etc) so that you can find it again.
Apply preset 2.
Now you have the trousers you wanted.
Choose the shirt from preset 1 (you had noted it down earlier)
Now you have the outfit you wanted - shirt from 1, trousers from 2.
Save the outfit.
You will create a new outfit, a second copy.
You can delete the previous copy of the outfit you had saved (which would be same as preset 1 applied).
OR you can create multiple mix-n-match outfit choices and save each as a preset.
Same process can be used to switch faces, make-up, hair, accessories, outfits for various occasions, colours for the applied item etc.
