inZOI
This building mode is dated.
Most people compare this building mode to The Sims, but that’s misleading. The Sims allows console commands that let you bypass limitations and create complex structures. This game, however, has strict constraints—no mixing wall heights, no tall rooms next to shorter ones, and no stacking windows on the same wall. These restrictions feel arbitrary. Do the devs plan to update or expand on this?

Really? If it’s in comparison to the sims…. There wasn’t even a hot tub added to TS4 for almost 1 year until after release, in a Stuff Pack, and longer for the base addition.

I didn’t play much of Sims 4, but I spent a lot of time with Sims 3 and with mods and console commands, you could build almost anything. I’ve seen people recreate Victorian homes, the Taj Mahal, and of course the modernist styles we see in Inzoi. Without console commands, the game did have restrictions, but they existed to help less experienced players build decent-looking houses quickly. Still, with the right tools, the creative potential was there. You can find some truly incredible builds from back in the day.

to be frank mods and console commands are not what you had normally available and you should not compare a game thats been just released to a game that has been out years and can be modified with mods
you should be fair and compare base games
I cannot stand building in TS3, it's overly complicated and very glitchy and it's over a decade old. I play TS3 for the realism & gameplay. TS4 for building (probably why i struggle with TS3 building)

I would say there is SO much potential with this games build mode. It is comparable to TS3 but to me, the categories make more sense and it seems more user friendly.
Plus they have way more stuff in the basegame, majority of which is DLC in TS3 & TS4.
Everything in this early access basegame surpasses basegame of the decade old TS3 & TS4 in my opinion.

You make some fair points—especially about the base game having more content—but let’s be honest, that's not a particularly high bar when EA is the standard. That said, my experience with The Sims 3 was quite different. I personally didn’t run into the infamous glitches all that often, and over time I was able to build some pretty elaborate lots without much frustration.

As for The Sims 4, it just never clicked for me. Part of that was timing—I was in university when it launched—but part of it was that it didn’t feel like a meaningful upgrade. If anything, it felt like a step back in terms of depth.

More importantly, I’d argue The Sims 3 offered far more gameplay. It had a dynamic open world, story progression, customizable styles, and a true simulation layer that TS4 still hasn’t matched. This also applies to Inzoi and it's current offerings, (not bashing them, it was Maxis/EA third go around for this) And we’re talking about a game developed over a decade ago, on a custom engine, without modern tools like Stack Overflow, Unity, or LLMs. That’s an achievement.

I think you meant to make that comparison with TS4, not TS3. Because while TS3 is older, it’s still objectively more ambitious than its successor—and in many ways, still unmatched.

That claim doesn’t hold up. While not everyone used mods in The Sims 3, they were easy to install and well-supported from early on. Maxis didn’t just tolerate modding—they structured the game to accommodate it. It was a core part of the player experience for many.

Also, the in-game console and cheats (like motherlode or moveObjects on) were universally known among players. Even casual players used them. Advanced builders routinely disabled placement limits to create impressive, complex builds—far beyond what the base tools allowed.

As for the idea that we shouldn’t compare TS3 because it's older: that’s a bit misguided. If anything, TS3 deserves more credit. It was built during a time when developers had to roll their own engines and pipelines, without today’s middleware and toolkits. Despite that, TS3 shipped with ambitious systems—open world, Create-A-Style, story progression—that TS4 still lacks in any meaningful form. That makes TS3 a high bar, not an unfair comparison.

If you want to compare base games only, fine—but even there, TS3 had a more robust foundation and a clearer vision for simulation. TS4 has spent years playing catch-up with expansion packs and feature patches.

i sadly have to agree. i can't use the build mode at all its so clunky and unlogical..

i can't even put a door on ground level that isn't a bit above the grass.. idk how to fix that, i tried for a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hour -.- never had any problems with the build mode in sims games, actually loved it most. i really wanted to build a beautiful house in inzoi but it won't happen considering how i can't even set a door right

They are already planning on improving the build mode but I can't find any info's about how they want to improve it. Cheats codes will be added in the next update.

Well you can hold the ALT button and move it around, which causes the object to be like the "moveobject" console code. Otherwise you can't really completely move certain stuff. What WOULD be good is if Krafton will allow the sizes of the objects to be changed. That's one thing missing in this build mode. Otherwise it's pretty g.
