So are we, each generation is made by people of a previous generation. Sentience is something we can't explain, don't have any proof of let alone how it works, so i can't accept the position that AI is without the ability to think and act on its own behalf.
Now I don't know how much of this game is truly AI generated in terms of it's actual content. Obviously they have the weird AI 3D janky furniture feature thing, the mocap like thing, and texture generator but it almost seems like those were added in as an afterthought gimmick to excuse the lack of in depth mod tools as of now. (Which is pretty cringe and inexcusable imo but that's just me)
I don't know how much of the in game models, animations, voices, etc. are AI specifically.
The main point that OP is getting at is that AI never will have a consistent art direction it's main goal is to achieve whatever it's machine learning algorithm thinks is the correct result. It may get "better" or "More accurate" results to whatever prompt. But AI will never be able to put nuance, themes, or purpose into any of it's work.
Which is my personal problem with AI in today's media. Games used to be made with passion, focus, care, and thought into their both their gameplay, writing, story, characters, as well as art direction, concept art, background art, etc. And with that combined effort we got better games. People CARED about EVERY step of the process.
But now companies are willing to completely throw out a lot of these steps to pump out OBJECTIVELY worse products faster and cheaper, they are disregarding part of the game making process in favor of having a machine do it. And worse of all people are becoming COMPLACENT with it which incentivizes these companies to KEEP doing it.
We've seen it before, consumers have become complacent with Early-Access, unfinished games released onto market. Live service games that if the developer or publisher decides they want to pull the plug, you can't even play the game anymore, day one patches, super large file sizes, etc.
But we CAN make companies change, if we show them that we as consumers won't stand for their corner cutting, we can make changes. Look at some examples, denuvo people protest for games to remove these types of systems and it works, bad console to PC ports sure there are still some but companies realized after years that the PC market is a viable market to tap into and to skimp out on it is lost sales. Look at the reception to killing floor 3, the backlash that games beta received made the devs push back the release date to an unknown time.
Complacency breeds mediocrity, we shouldn't settle for average, we should strive for games to be the best they can be, especially when they're coming from companies with the manpower and capital to achieve better.
the talk of a privileged boy who has never been exploited at work before, people have commited suicide from abuse in the gaming industry before in the past, not to mention the countless women harassed at work in the industry, and the work hours where you don't even go home during days, this applys even to other dev industries, ignorant.
This is the most corporate dystopian line of thought I've ever read.
"I hope they automate the process of making games, I will blindly spend money on every game automated out of the machine for pure entertainment fulfillment and nothing more, I do not care if the game is bad or good, I will consume it all the same."
How by doing so, long term investment and lasting cultural impact is replaced with mass produced superficial short term enjoyment only to be discarded mere moments later,
essentially treating entertainment media equivalent to cans of soda.
How the mass production of media is the reason why things like "Content farms" exist and why "Slop content" has become the norm on every major online platform.
Like you're trolling right? This has gotta be bait right?
Not to a realistic foreseeable future.
I never understood this "It's coming whether you like it or not" statement I think if you seriously think that AI is going to be anything more than a fad that will die in the next couple of years, just like crypto, just like NFTs, just like motion controls, just like VR, etc. You are much too idealistic to the point of downright ignorant.
People are going to realize the impracticality of it and the flaws of it and resort back to normal creative endeavors. The only ones who will be clinging onto it are the shovelware and low effort content creators. And games with the AI slop will forever have that slop permanently stain their reputation.
I for one just hope for people to realize sooner, before the steam front page becomes more polluted than it already is.
Or they can be very deep and wel crafted, with the help of AI & or assets...
There is a big diffrence.
Name me only a single one of these very deep and well crafted AI games you´re talking about.
I´m waiting
Tell me you know nothing about the use of AI in this game without telling me.
