"You cannot move here" after accessing build mode

I just started playing the game after watching a few let's plays on Youtube, none of whom seem to have this problem. As soon as I enter build mode and make an edit (new furniture... etc.) My Zoi doesn't seem to be able to interact with any objects, even those existing objects , like fridges, couches, beds... I get this prompt, "You cannot do this" or, "You cannot move here". Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong..?

Somthing is in the way preventing them from being able to access it, every item has kind of like an area of interaction spacing even though it lets you place it, there might not be space for the zoi to use

I have the same issue despite testing to put my fridge, oven and counters in the middle of the room, they still do "you cannot move here".

I just started too and everything is spaced fine. (green alerts when building) nothing works I can't get my Zoi to even go into her new house!
