Buy or wait?
Is this worth the money? Or should I wait until more features are added?

Buy it, try it. If you can spend $40 and it doesn't affect your budget, buy it.

I guess it really depends on what you're expecting out of it. It IS EA, there is still a lot that they have planned that hasn't been implemented yet.

If you
1. Have a creative imagination
2. Like to role play
3. Enjoy casual interactions and don't need heavily developed activities and "main story/side quests"
4. Enjoy building
5. Enjoy creating families

Buy it now. It is amazing so far. My partner has a very old, very outdated gaming laptop that does NOT, in any way, meet the required specs--it is playing very smoothly on medium settings for them. They haven't tried much of the AI aspects or the Smart Zoi feature yet, so we'll need to test that. My computer meets the specs of the highest settings and then some--I haven't had a single hiccup at all.

I would recommend getting in, picking an already established preset family in one of the worlds, play that for a bit, and decide then over using up the two hours creating a zoi and a house. Do that AFTER you decide you like it enough to keep it. If you don't like what they have to offer so far, refund it for now, until it has the features you want.

You could also watch YouTube play throughs from yesterday and today to see if you like what is in the EA version.
Buy it, set a timer for 1H 55m and test it. Then either keep it or refund it.

Just skip the character creator, use whatever preset. It's what I did. I refunded and put it back on my wishlist and might check it out again.

If you have sims 4 + expansions don't buy
If you never played sims 4 or don't have the expansions- buy
If you don't like life sims ... Why are you here?

If you're completely new to this genre, don't buy it as it's not completed yet. If you've played The Sims many times and would like to try something new, buy it but again bare in mind that gaming mechanics are not done yet.

Buy it and you'll either like it or not like it. It's early access, if you even like it a little you can get it for $40 now and own it. Or you can try it, find out it's not for you and refund it. There's litterally nothing loss by trying it out.

You could just read the reviews, then buy it!

Steam reviews are seldom worth going by.

Most positive reviews are either memes, trashing EA/Sims 4 or just single words "amazing", without giving much detail as to what is amazing.

I haven't tried Sims 4 but I'm liking the game so far. Still, I'd say it's worth waiting for upcoming patches and mods.
Currently the game is in pretty rough shape. I play until it crashes, then move on to something else until my frustration subsides. Hopefully some of the other bugs will be addressed in the weeks to come as more reports are sent to the development team. Unless you are an extremely patient gamer with low expectations, I would recommend waiting a couple of months before buying.
