how to manage city karma???
my current save file's city karma is trending overwhelmingly negative and i have no idea what i'm supposed to do about it. it's definitely not related to my zoi's karma, her karma is good. i scold the ones with terrible karma in the karma report menu but i can't figure out what to do beyond that.

From what I see the only way is to micro manage all of them and force them do positive karma action, which is dumb. Possible one of root cause of majority negative karma i believe stem from the ai auto pathing and auto conversation choice they pick might be a bit bugged.

I agree, why should I force someone being good? If everyone is good, nobody it is.

this is exactly why i was worried about the karma system and didn't want it in the game at all. when it was first mentioned, i knew it was going to be nothing but an annoyance. i don't want to deal with that, i just want to play a life simulator game 😭

with how my karma report looks, it comes off like all the zois are unrealistically terrible people and nobody has any sort of morals. even with smart zoi turned on

I think the fundamental problem is that when a zoi has low karma then it has more bad karma options while simultaneously having less good karma options so statistically they do more bad things which lowers karma and down the spiral we go.

I personally find the karma system of the city to be off putting. Like why am I being punished because some NPC I’ve never played is being a bad person?

exactly this. it's unfair and frustrating. i get that it has to do with the """lore""" of the game, but that's not what people are here for. we should be able to opt out of it entirely and have karma only affect what zoi we're playing as in the moment

In one of the city management screens, maybe even a sub menu of the karma screen, there's a bunch of sliders that affects karma and actions taken by the AI. I think I recall a good karma action probability slider and a bad karma action probability slider. You might be able to tweak these to offset the issue a bit. I'd check the exact terminology and location for you but I'm not at my machine.

Honestly, I'm worried that too low of a karma value is a failure state, as I noticed the tutorial cat said something to the effect of "interview with the CEO" in regards to it being too low.

There's some karma actions that can be done anywhere, anytime, like secretly farting... one that I've found Zoi's LOVE to do, and negatively affects their karma. I've went to a gaming cafe and I've witnessed so many idles Zoi's ripping one out. If they're occupied by something, it's fine... but the second they go idle hell breaks loose.

Seems like improper tuning of values to me, because even my Zoi with Coexistence values loves to be mean or dirty when I'm not actively managing her.

Also... having to manage the city's karma breaks me out from the flow of the game, as I have to navigate the menus and watch the same little animation 3 to 10 times a day. If I could have instant interventions where I wouldn't have to watch the animation, just click the button and voila, it wouldn't be as bad.

There are sliders in the city options to adjust the karma balance of all zoi actions. Nudge those if you find your city sliding downhill and don't wish to micromanage.

weird system
No' Name 29 de mar. às 2:17
I don't even know what this system even does yet.

From a video I've seen there's a slider system to change how the AI behaves, which to me kinda looked like a "Cheat" menu of sorts, where you good just set everything ti only get positive Karma.

I've just been trying to ignore this system completely now, I'm not going to do what some stupid cat tells me to do, let them send the CEO after me! Also, I'm curious to actually see what happens if I just ignore the system as a whole, and not scold people.

I've never went below "Caution" as of yet, and have like 10+ people to scold. Wonder when theyr'e going to send their CEO after me.

i don't know how those sliders work or what they cover so i might be wrong in my assumption here, but wouldn't that change all zois into being nice? i don't want all zois to be nice, good samaritans. i just don't want to deal with the karma system and correcting every single zois behaviour because they keep doing minor negative karma interactions (like secretly farting) so much to the point it forces them down a negative karma path. i WANT some zois to be horrible people who go around screaming at people and picking fights, but the karma system by default encourages ALL zois to act this way

My zoi just died of natural causes as an adult, I'm assuming it was because I didn't manage karma. The more you know...
Aeden 30 de mar. às 0:25
The negative karma actions definitely seem to go off a little too often. My own Zoi started kicking vending machines and harassing people for absolutely no reason. I manually had them donate to one dude and then suddenly they were going off on them. Had to force them to go home because they were being a such a menace. Weird thing is they had okay karma before they went insane.

Ended up cranking the good karma conversation slider to max in city management because every Zoi I inspect has good aspirations but apparently takes terrible actions at random.
