Raising the foundation in build mode

I know you can do it. I figured out how to raise the foundation but every time I try, the doors wont install. Also, there is no way to scale the octagon and hexagon shapes? I was trying to make a bedroom but the bed is just too big to fit in those shapes given.

Do you mean "raising - to gain elevation" or "razing - to completely destroy"? Important distinction when it comes to building.

Sorry. Raising to gain elevation. For example. I build a platform and raise it up 5 units so I can create a stairway to walk up to the door. But once I raise the platform, the door disappears. If I raise the platform first, the door won't install.

I can clearly see the house next door has a stairway exactly like what I want to do. And I am pretty sure I saw someone on you tube do it.
