Groups have been radicalizing each other for about as long as we have records in a process anthropologists call "schismogenesis". It gets especially bad when one side wants to literally eradicate the existence of another side, as is the case when it comes to the debate around "woke".
That being said, I'd say the LGBT community is far less radical than the white supremacists they're reacting to.
The world is populated only by straight people, therefore making a lesbian/gay character is pointless if you want organic romance in the world.
I am sure this will be patched soon, but until then the thumb stays down.
