The "Aesthetic" Aesthetic of this game turns me off of it...
Everything is pristine, stylish, contemporary, mid-20s focused, glamorous streetwear and cozy stardew Valley streamer aesthetic.

It looks like it was designed by a board room of insufferable TikTok stars famous for their videos that are all about curating an aesthetic. I don't know how to phrase this complaint, honestly. It just has a very distinct vibe of "the same thing people complain about when it comes to sims 4 clothing for women", but spread out across everything. The world, the furniture, the clothes, the CAS limitations that make every character a cookie cutter supermodel with glasses too big for their face.

The canvas is nothing but characters with the exact... Same... Aesthetic. They blur together. They all look like they set up their entire space at Starbucks with their at-home "cozy" Aesthetic accessories just so other people see them "being aesthetic" in public.

What are the odds the vibe of the game ever... Expands? Even the goth characters look like Disney adult hipsters. It's like it's impossible to make anything else.

I'm fine with everything you complain about and since the target audience are Asians this will most likely never change, the game is much more popular and hyped in Korea and China than it is in the west.

you can turn the city into a complete dump in the city editor with just a slider.
You need trash dystopian city and npc design like in Escape From Tarkov?
Well it looks like some funny option but just an option. )

Not sure how you don't understand this, but putting dirt smudge textures on top of a tiktok streamer house doesn't make it not a tiktok streamer house. It just makes it dirty.

The "how much crap should we layer on everything" slider doesn't give the game more furniture styles, clothing styles, hair styles, or better sliders in CAS.

I agree... I feel like playing "true beauty : the game"

its not dirt smudges
Looking at canvas uploads makes me worry for the mental wellbeing of the kids playing. It's not healthy to be presented environments where everyone is picture perfect pretty. The sims 4 gallery most popular uploads has the same problem but it feels so much worse here. I scrolled for 20 minutes and found exactly 4 characters I would describe as "normal people". Everyone else was dramatically overdone models.

as for styles, you do realise you can mod the game and they cant make a billion items for launch into early access. can add your own textures, either self made or ai generated.
I didn't ask for a billion items. I asked for a basic aesethetic variety.
I'm all for more realism in advertising and on TV, but come on. It isn't supposed to be real life - that's why it's called a game. Can you hear the advertising? "Come play our new game. Everyone looks like your next door neighbor, there's nothing nice or pretty except things you'll never be able to own and you get to pay child support and utilities and rent and never get promoted at work because some suck-up always seems to get ahead of you. Doesn't that sound like fun!!!" Make it make sense.

There is a aesthetic variety slider for the city and I wonder what is wrong with you if you don't like pretty things.

Aren't you just a ray of sunshine. For the 1000th time it is in early access, it is definitely not perfect AT ALL. But my god you expect a full catalog of furniture/accessories/customization in an incomplete game. One that released to the public only several days ago mind you.

If you want an imperfect character then MAKE ONE ?? Why are you complaining about what other people make? I have seen plenty of different kind of characters being made that have very realistic/natural beauty to them. The Zoi presets are proof enough. Be the change you want to see- post your own character presets on Canvas. If you think you can't make said characters, it is not even a matter of opinion, I genuinely think you are wrong or just lack creativity.

If you don't want a "tik tok influencer" house - then go and make what you want to make/see. It is literally that simple. The generative AI/3D printing function can help you make things you think are missing right now. But again, you have to have creativity.

This game has many many flaws. I don't even care to defend this game but reading this really just rubbed me the wrong way and I had to reply. I have no idea what mind set you are in but you honestly sound so pick me, elitist, and judgmental. I hope you eventually find peace <3
It's early access, give it time.. lots of time. And think of all you are getting in EARLY ACCESS. I have played other games at this stage and it did not even feel this complete. Again, Early Access. Not Complete, In production. They are human and have lives, give them time. And post your suggestions on their discord. I know I have heard they will be opening one up soon just for that reason.
I’m not a fan of the overly clean UI design it looks very uninspired especially the layout
I really don't know how to make it clearer to you guys that games don't develop their art style in early access. This is it. This is the style. And they went with clean pristine hyper modern stteetwear and influencer mansion aesthetic.
