RTX 4070 - not good enough?
Game tells me my card might not be enough and then just doesn't start.

That isn't true. I have a 4060 and can run it just fine.

shouldn't be true, check for drivers...defaulted to ultra on my 4070 and runs fine
4060TI, works like a charm for me.

Unreal Engine 5 causes some problems with the 40 series GPU and some 13/14th generation CPUs, if that's what you have. Typically "not enough video memory" messages and crashes during playtime

Simple advice : Try setting your computer to Power saving mode (power management plan options in Windows -> best power efficiency). You don't even need to restart your computer.
Just switch to this setting and try launching the game.

Your PC is below minimum requirements in some way.

Go to Steam client > Help > System Information

Copy and paste here the following info:
CPU Brand: Driver: Driver Version: Driver Date: DirectX Card:

In Windows > Start Menu > Settings > System > About > Windows specifications

Hit "Copy", and paste it here as well:
Edition Version OS build
I have a GTX 1650 and a amd 5 3500 with 40 gbs of ram and the game runs at 60 fps and looks fantastic with no stutters or lag
rtx 3070ti doing good.

i have a rtx 3060ti and runnign the game on high settings, it's smooth as silk both indoors and outdoors. that said i have 32gb ram, an r9 7900x and run steam proton because i'm on linux. it might be proton is running this far better than windows native.
The game never told me that with my 4070 and the 4070 runs it like a champ. Perhaps it meant some other problem with your rig. Maybe CPU or RAM? Sometimes not having a SSD can cause a black screen.

Could you list your complete specs including your specific 4070? I'm sure more peeps can help you with a more complete picture of your rig.
Try this
Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics
Add the game exe from the SteamLibrary path
Set graphics preference to HIgh Performance

Using 4070 Ti + i3 14100F + 32gb (temporarily i7 sended to warranty) work fine , try update your graphic card software and try again
If you update the Nvidia drivers just be careful as there is one version that is causing issues with some peoples GPU's.

Wow, proton running better than Windows!? That's surprising. I thought the proton is only emulating DirectX API calls therefore by nature will never run bettern than Windows. Good to hear that the game runs well on Linux though!
