Yes, you should be able to upload your characters and homes to Canvas as far as I know.

Your creations are saved in your My Documents folder so I don't see any reason why they would be removed once you install the full game.

upload to canvas (not just save) the folder it is saved to is same as the full release. Yet uploading to your canvas puts it in a place to retrieve it.
