i can imagine a much bigger non-city map, a few small villages a fair distance apart, with rivers, a lake, lots of trees, open rolling countryside and the like with lots of rural roads. I say bigger because there are a lot less resource intensive things to work with in a more rural setting, so maps could be twice the size for example offering plenty of open areas. small villages are like hamlets, the occasional post office and chip shop, home business types. the local law enforcement, emergency services are small and located the largest village along with the local council and village hall and church.
I can imagine the idea of living where you want on the map, assuming you can get temporary lot permission.
That would be ideal living for me. away from the cities and nature all around the area.
I could see places like Washington State in the US, Rural area in the UK, some place in China with lots of cliffs, rural Africa with dirt roads, shack houses living in poverty or on the breadline. An area in Russia mostly covered in snow and slushy black ice on and around roads or a whole Greek island with a single major village complete with some ancient ruins and lots of open land. There are lots of options to look at.
