Running from Steam Proton Experimental. it runs perfectly out the box for me.
You guys must spend hours fiddling just to make a non-native game run, and emulated no less with a huge performance overhead. Madness.
Many games actually perform better in Linux even with the compatibility layer.
Now this I have to hear.
some games are better than windows native, some are worse however. Unfortunately there is no one size fits all solution to the issue as like windows users, linux users are also running a wide array of different hardware configurations and distrobutions.
May I know the version of your Kernel? I am using 6.12 rn iirc, I heard the latest update might be better for running games.
I dual boot with Win11, however Arch Linux is my main now.
Performance overhead is negligible as of now; even Wukong runs butter smooth on my Arch Linux. Valve did an outstanding job with Proton ngl.
Yes. There are many instances where games run better on Proton compared to Windows, depending on the kernel and desktop environment used.
I haven't checked the kernal before.
Checked now: 6.8.0-55.
Actually: YES!
I don't have a windows licence. I'll never buy one again because of Microsoft spying on all of its users.
Also I don't have the time to wait until windows ist booted and has installed its updates.
I don't install another OS on my pc just because of one game.
The little bit debugging to get a game running is way less work then getting a windows fixed after a buggy update.
7k series dgpu, vulkan K.O. as per symptomatic https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues?q=is%3Aissue%20loader_thunks.c%20
seealso the reason i am here (to witness ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of GPU vendor locking): https://www.reddit.com/r/inZOI/comments/1jke1r5/smart_zoi_hardware_requirements_confirmation_that/
Very strange, since in previous post (on their own blog even) they still mention support for AMD cards
https://inzoiresource.com/blogs/22/Minimum-and-Recommended-System-Requirements-for-inZOI
Also, if I read that correctly, the reddit post is for Smart ZOI feature that use NVIDIA exclusive AI features, but it should not prevent anyone using AMD cards from running the game
I do wonder if something like zluda would work for these ai features, although a 0.5b parameter model isn't exactly very impressive.
As an actual engineer, yes, it would.
Developing on Linux is far better than the bloat of Winblows. Likewise, I refuse to use an OS that assumes I'm a drooling idiot and takes away my option to choose.
Anyway,
Linux Mint Cinnamon 21.3

Proton Experimental (bleeding edge)
Runs pretty fine for me. Some options (like saving char presets) do cause an odd crash but it's been a pretty smooth 60fps experience.
