Has anybody been able to figure out how to place items on counters/tables?

I cant for the life of me put a table lamp on a table.

They seem to have controlled which items can be placed on tables, find one that can be put on table and BAM! there it goes. Other things are just for floor.

Have not messed around with editor enough to see if there's height adjustments when putting thing down so we can fake a placement on table for floor items.

Even removing the prefab tabletop items and trying to place them back on isn't working.

I am glad it is not just me. Can not place things that should snap in place, like chairs on a table, dishwasher or sink in kitchen cabinet or other clutter on shelfs etc.. Tried with alt, does not work. Love the game, I am confident this will be fixed soon.

Ok, wird first it did not work at all, than after a while it just worked.

What I ended up doing because I couldn't figure out why it wasn't working, I would just select an object, click on the "Move, Rotate, Scale" option, and just change the height of the object to sit ontop of whatever surface I was trying to place it.

Unless I am dumb, I don't think you can do that with a sink. My sink is basically inside of the floor.

I don't know, what's going on with your sink, but maybe something downloaded wrong?

You're right that doesn't work. I can't place anything at all on counters. When trying to place sink it says "must be placed on top of the kitchen sink"

Also struggling to put anything on top of a surface. Cushions will not go on couches or chairs, even using alt to free move. Props and decor just sit on the floor or inside the table/surface/etc. Can't seem to figure out any directional controls to move items up, only move around the floor and rotate.

Having the same issue too. Even if I pick up the prefab items, and go to place them down in the same place they were, it then doesn’t go there. Just says furniture cannot overlap.
Can’t see a way to even adjust the height of anything to float it on top of where it should be.
Can’t put alarm clocks on side tables, table lamps on any kind of table, and no clutter anywhere lol can’t even place a sink
Using ALT to ‘freely place’ just lets me put the table lamp on the floor, under the table
