No Multiplayer is a Deal Breaker
My wife and I like playing together with each other and our friends, so to not have a strong and flexible multiplayer experience really has caused us to lose 99% of our interest in the title. We both hoped this could be a suitable replacement for Second Life in terms of a fully updated engine, modern graphics, etc, etc. It looks like a beautiful single player experience, and I'm sure there will be room for expansion and growth, but at this moment we've reserved ourselves to the fact that it won't support modded servers, multiplayer, and doesn't show enough potential to become a new sandbox experience. In a perfect world, all those things would be packaged with the release and we'd have the ability to host our own servers or for lack of better terms, grids, where we could systemically connect with other customizable cities from other server hosts.

HAVING multiplayer would be a deal breaker for me!

Can we let them release the game first and have the core gameplay fleshed out before demanding they have multiplayer at launch?
Let's be realistic, this is about to come out in EA, this month. Adding MP or even co-op at this point would delay that release for some time, which would affect all of us.

I am not a coder or anything, but I am pretty sure a lot of the game would need reworking in order to get any multiplayer aspects functional as it has been designed as a SP game. You can't just change it virtually overnight into a different game. Hopefully co-op gets added further into EA, but let the devs open up early access first...

It really wasn’t meant to be construed as “This game is gonna be crap if it doesn’t have MP” I was simply stating that for my wife and I, it IS a deal breaker, like MP, hate MP, everyone is entitled to their opinions. :)
I get you, if my best friend and long-time gaming partner was still with us, I would really want to run around this game with her, too. Hopefully you and your wife will be able to share the experience down the line - keep it on your watch list in case a co-op feature is added in future.

The game is complex and will grow with time.

If they do a 2-4 player co-op later, they will let you know. The focus is basics and depth or core stuff first.

Great. I'm sure the Devs will take your specific opinion under advisement.
oh boohoo
What? It's not multiplayer! Damn I saw the trailer last year that promised a developed social life.. "So with the NPCs, too bad it reminds me of my sad adolescence playing Sims all alone!!... Sad life (solitude feeling reinforced) :Milli::emote_lantern:
Sims never had multiplayer, besides how would they even implement it? It wouldn’t be seamless 🤦‍♂️ stop crying
My problem with multiplayer is that unscrupulous folks would find a way to mess with the Zoi family/individual and ruin the work that I created. The majority of Life Sim players are used to a single player experience.
Sims Online was a thing, but look how that turned out, a massive flop. It;s a shame that some can't get passed the fact that some games don't need multiplay, I'm sure the two of you will be missed in the community ...

I also wouldn't want some stranger to be able to interact with my game whenever they want. Multiplayer is not a bad thing in itself. But especially in a game like this, there should at least be some kind of private server so that you only have people you know and can trust. Especially because the game will also be played by many younger people. I would be in favour of an optional multiplayer that you have to turn on yourself.
Agreed. I have played plenty of MMO's in my time (beta tested a few too), and people messing with my **** rather put me off the genre. With a game like a life-sim, which you invest a lot of time and planning into (well, I do), the last thing you want is for it to be open to that element of online players who are just in it to greif others.
