Jokes aside The sims 5 is no more, EA announced that they plan to continue with sims 4, they will add online to it and Sims 5 is definitely not coming, not even working on it. Project Rene is not sims 5. I repeat, sims 5 isn't happening, you only have INZOI, sims 1-4 and mobile game project rene.

I bet anything they took one look at Inzoi and said, "welp, we're not gonna try to compete against that". Haha. The timing of their announcement is pretty odd. Right after the inzoi demo.

The Sim’s 5 was indeed cancelled. The devs said that people have already invested so much into The Sim’s 4 over the years and they decided to put it permanently on hold. And invest they did — as The Sim’s 4 is a $1,200.00 game about with all the little DLC’s and packs for the game.

inZOI’s main competitor will be Paralives, as The Sim’s 4 will die overnight once inZOI is released. Maybe then they’ll re-announce The Sim’s 5.

The Sims 5 was never a thing, EA said as much quite a long time ago. Project Rene is the follow-up, and they named it as such (stupid name IMO) to make it clear that it is not a direct successor to The Sims.

So everyone on here is sort of right, Sims 5 is not cancelled, it is just going to be something else. We'll have to wait and see exactly what (but as it apparently will have MP elements, it's a "no" for me).

The thing is, Project Rene is going to be a strictly multiplayer Sims game. It will not be "Sims 5" any more than "The Sims Online" was a numbered entry in the series. It will be its own thing, not comparable to the rest of the Sims series. So yes. Sims 5 was cancelled as development pivoted away from a Sims 4 successor.

Considering they just updated the engine for sims 4 I'd imagine we're stuck with it for a long time to come. Not that it really matters at this point. Who would want to put thousands of dollars into a game and just have that wiped away in a moment for a new game that will probably turn out to be even more barebones than sims 4 was at release just to push DLC. EA is turning in to Paradox Interactive on Steroids with the locked features from previous titles in to DLC.

Project Rene is the same thing as diablo immoral is for diablo series, I hope everyone that is calling project rene sims 5 will enjoy a mobile game, full of microtransactions p2w bs :))

Only dead on arrival for a lot of older players. People who were introduced to the series through Sims 4 don't see any issues and love it. That's where the problems started. That's why some of us are scratching our heads half the time and the other players are fine with the way things are because that's all they've every known.
