Just the character creator and it runs like absolute poop
I have a gaming PC that runs DOOM Eternal on Max settings at 60fps no issues. This character creator alone is a slideshow at minimum settings. Most people playing life sims won't have the hardware required to run this - this was either way too ambitious a project or no attempts to optimise the game have been made.

Is anyone else experiencing a similar issue? Do you need a 4090 to run this thing? What's the deal?

Im on a 6700xt, 5600x, 32gb ram and installed on an SSD, it runs fine on my end at 1080p(with FSR off since it was really blurry and ghosting with it on). What are your specs? The game is capped at 30fps by default so don't forget to change that in case you might've missed it.

i ran it at 1440p fullscreen with no problems at all at the "Quality" setting with DLSS set at "Quality". My PC spec is AMD Ryzen 5 5600G, 16GB RAM, Nvidia RTX 4060, had it installed on a SSD

RTX 3070, i7 10700k, 32GB RAM and an SSD. I tried on highest settings on 1440p. My CPU is actually worse, than the recommended settings recommend, but at least the character editor runs smooth like butter for me. I mean people can't scream for better graphics and then cry, if their setup doesn't run it. It was expected, that this game will be quite hardware demanding and if your PC isn't close to the recommended hardware, of course it won't run smooth (or won't run at all).

It would be nice to know your specs, to see if this is normal not.

The requirements are 3070, i7 and 16gb. It's not for the fainthearted. I have a 3080 stationary, had no issues what so ever. Sims3 was a drench on most computers, you needed really high specks in those days. Simulation games like these with actual people picutes very easily becomes very high speck. On the other hand, simmers would complain about it if it ran on a potato. Simmers are complainers, get over it.

I have a 6 year old rig and just tuned some settings down and the creator runs 60-ish FPS at 1440p with zero issues(the main menu is a bit laggy on launch but that's it.)

Processor: Ryzen 5 2600x (slightly below spec but overclocked runs fine)
Ram: 32 GBs of DDR4 (I invested in extra ram since it's generally a cheaper upgrade)
SSD: 1 TB Last Gen Samsung (not even an NVMe)
Graphics Card: RTX 2060 with only 6 GBs of vram

- Didn't even have to set all the settings to minimum. As far as I can tell the 8 GB vram requirement is only because of the AI texture model they use. If they allowed for lower resolution textures I could probably even run that since I have ran my own SD build locally. RTX cards is a must for AI on a local machine though so if you have an AMD card you can't use it. Same with DLSS which can help, though I personally find it to be a coinflip.

Another Rage bait thread? Well, just in case:
I'm actually running pretty close to recommended specs (RTX3070 and R9 5900X with 32GB (only around 11-12 are actually used while in Editor - Windows and stuff included).
It actually took my PC a few moments after booting up the first time (also some stuttering, etc) but ran flawlessy afterwards.
(I actually got the same issue with S4 anyway, so probably not even this game's fault)
In short: If you stick to at least recommended specs, you should be having a decent experience.

I cant get it to run because my GPU is not compatible, but i just want to explain to the OP, this is a create a character demo only, the game doesnt have a release date planned.

influencers/internet people have access to it atm and everyone wanted to at least try the create a zoi feature, so the devs brought it out for a 5 day demo. its still in dev and they're taking on feedback. obvy I didn't get the early dev mode, cos my pc isn't compatible but just wanted to make it clear and why its just a character creator.

Ps: I'm basically the sad kid looking into a cosy home, watching everyone play with their new toy at christmas when I got a lump of coal with my nose pressed against the glass.

idk. runs pretty good.

I'm running on a gaming laptop; i9 processor, Nvidia 3070 with 8GB Vram, SSD, and 32 gigs of Ram. The character creator is running surprisingly well. However, the real question is: how will it run once the gameplay starts? If there is a 30 fps cap, that needs to be removed by the time that the game launches. No excuses.

You can change the cap in the settings. By defaults it's at 30 but it is already configurable. Always check the settings first folks.

in my case the demo just opened the first time then crashed then try to relaunch it and it just CTD and my rig is very good and very recent only like close to 3 month

hm, yeah, I have a solid mid-range computer and the recommended wants a 5800 instead of my 3800x, meanwhile my gpu meets the recommended gpu exactly.

Honestly that recommendation probably assumes you're going to have ray tracing on and a few other things that I can easily tinker and fix up for my needs, but I'm curious how their computers are in their country to require relatively new components for a recommended experience.
Granted these parts came out a few years ago, but that's still a chunk of change people tend to not have. (unless they take the time to just save money.)
