is this coming to consoles? kinda waiting for a switch version before i even really consider it considering the lack of battle animations

I think Xaria's right.
I can't imagine there are that many Advance Wars players that do not turn off Animations after 50--nay; 100 hours of playtime.

Though, yes, having the animations there for Casual players are likely what helped sell Advance Wars to the kids back in the day.
