Jugadas las primeras horas desgraciadamente tengo que decir que no me convence. Creo sinceramente qu el juego está sin terminar. Además han reutilizado muchas características del anterior (Trópico 4) pero empeorandolas sustancialmente. Me explico:
1. No sé porque motivo han tenido que quitar la Escuela, ahora se pierde la correlación tan exacta que había con los tranajadores sin estudios, los de estudios primarios (los que habían estudiado sólo en la Escuela), los de Instituto y los de Universidad. Realmente creo que ésto es un error.
2. El edificio del Ministerio, que también ha desaparecido, cumpía una gran función, daba la sensación de tener un Gobierno donde se delegaban y donde gracias a tener colaboradores se obtenían bonificaciones, a semejanza de como puede ocurrir en la vida real.
3. Otro edificio más, el de la Bolsa, que nos permitía introducir la iniciativa privada y además nos ofrecía un tipo de edificio emblema de un sistema capitalista. Creo que ha sido otro gran error el hacerlo desaparecer.
4. El nuevo sistema de presupuestos de los edificios enmaraña mucho la claridad con la que antes se veían los gastos e ingresos que generaban las diferentes construcciones. Ahora, por ejemplo, en las viviendas no se sabe muy bien si el presupuesto es el gasto por conservación del inmueble o es el ingreso por el pago de los alquileres, amén de decir que ahora no se pueden poner la vivienda gratuita como con la anterior entrega.
5. El nuevo sistema de investigación tecnológica desde mi punto de vista lo único que ha hecho es complicar el juego sin necesidad ninguna. Ya teníamos un sistema de investigación tecnológica que nos ofrecía la línea de tiempo y que desde mi punto de vista era mucho más perfecto que éste.

Podría seguir, pues hay detalles como por ejemplo los hombres-carro que han creeado para sustituir a los coches en la época colonial que me parecen irreales totalmente. En fin, detalles hay muchos, como ya digo, y será cuestión de seguir en otro momento.

En resumen, creo que nos va a pasar con este Trópico 5 como ya nos pasó con Simcity, vamos a ir para atrás. Prueba de ello es que han sacado una actualización del juego el mismo día de su lanzamiento, eso indica que el juego no está terminado.

Creo a la vuelta de unas horas o incluso minutos de juego las partidas empiezan a ser muy monotonas, ademas el control de tropas es muy inutil, quiza lo hubieran desarrollado un poco mas, de modo que le juego no deje de ser un juego de gestion, pero si con un manejo basico de tus tropas

I liked Tropico 3, bought Tropico 4 and LOVE it. I didn't think Kalypso/Haemimont could screw Tropico 5 up. They did. The game has far less content than Tropico 4 did on release day. This is so you can buy content later as DLC!

The economy controls are dumbed down. Rent, wages, and all other economic factors are frustratingly simplified and broad.

Shipping was a bit of an annoyance in Tropico 4, goods could stack at docks faster than it could be shipped. In Tropico 5, that has been remedied (sort of) but the new way of shipping goods is an annoying, island clogging, minutiae-filled chore that makes me long for T4's flawed but ultimately less annoying shipping system.

T4's troops worked automatically and you had no control over them. In T5, you do have control. A good thing, right? Wrong. The troops controls are clunky and unresponsive. Another chore, not fun.

Rebels in Tropico 4 would appear if you were doing things wrong or didn't have enough jobs. There was a reason (and cure) to having rebels on your island. In Tropico 5, you have rebels for no reason. Your island could be a perfect paradise, but huge rebel attacks will still occur. The Developers have admitted the rebels are arbitrary and for no reason other than some lame excuse about it being an upstart island with political turmoil; it just (and does, often) happens.

In Tropico 4, you could be a benevolent ruler, or a brutal Tyrant, which is what Tropico was all about. In Tropico 5, you are an impotent and weak governor that can only survive by doing your best in hopes of pleasing the fickle masses to desperately stay in power.

Then there is DLC. Tropico 4, when it came out, was quickly buried in DLC. BUT! The first several DLC were handy, useful DLC. The DLC had VERY useful buildings, cool decorator pieces, a mission, and outfit. Over time though, the Tropico 4 DLC became cheap, useless cash grabs. This crappy DLC content continued on into Tropico 5. All the DLC in Tropico 5 is pointless and adds nothing interesting. Not only that, but a few skilled gamers actually found large chunks and entirely complete, usuable DLC in the RELEASE DAY game files. Which the Devs tried to patch out and B.S. away.

In Hindsight, you could offer me Tropico 5 for free, and i'd decline the offer. Tropico 4 is superior in nearly every way. With Tropico 4 being available on Steam, there is absolutely no point, reason, or need to buy Tropico 5.

This really, for me, is a bummer. This isn't some game I saw, tried, and didn't like. I LOVE Tropico 4. I WANTED to see this game succeed. Kalypso/Haemimont are the little guys in the gaming industry. But when they got greedy and released a content-weak game and put that content (that isn't that great to begin with) in DLC, they sold their integrity to nickel-and-dime their customers.

I was dissapointed when Kalypso started rushing out several shoddy DLC at the end of Tropico 4's run. Now, with Tropico 5, Kalypso/Haemimont are no longer on my radar, I don't care about their games.

That's okay. I still have Tropico 4.


EDIT: Some people have posted below with some very good arguments about where my review may be wrong. I still feel my review stands, but if you are truly looking into whether you should spend your money on this game or not, it wouldn't hurt in reading the comments below for some very valid responses that may change your mind.

Me esperaba mucho más. Infinitamente más. Será que estoy acostumbrado a los juegos de Paradox o BlueByte, pero este me ha parecido extremadamente simple. Parece más un juego para móvil donde vas completando eventos y recibes dinero a cambio.

Lo que más me ha llamado la atención es que es el primer juego de gestión que juego en el que ¡¡¡ No hay gestión de recursos !!! Todo cuesta dinero y listo. Incluso el primer Age of Empire tenía una gestión de recursos más completa, siendo un juego de otra categoria!. Además, esto produce situaciones muy absurdas: Por ejemplo, desde un principio no tienes las "tablas" investigadas pero sin embargo puedes construir complejas estructuras ¿que usan entonces?.

El tema de investigaciones es un batiburrillo de cosas mezcladas, no hay ramas ni arboles de investigación. Eliges la que quieres, le das, esperas y listo. Obviamente, como todo en el juego, solo cuestan dinero. Algunas investigaciones te piden de requisito que tengas un nº de investigaciones ya realizadas, independientemente las que sean. Esto nuevamente vuelve a causar situaciones absurdas: ¿Que tiene que ver investigar las tablas con redactar una Constitución?.

Los mandatos o leyes que podemos aprobar sigue el mismo patrón, pasas por caja y se aprueban. Algunos eventos pueden hacer que tengas que aprobar alguna cosa que quizás no querrías.

La gestión de los ciudadanos es un lio, no existe una pantalla clara que indique que necesitan los ciudadanos y como hacer que sean revolucionarios o no, o como hacerlos felices, parece que solo hacer los eventos produce cambios. A la hora de construir edificios que apliquen modificadores a los ciudadanos cercanos no hay ni siquiera una guía que te indique a qué zona abarca, solo un pequeño numero dentro que te pone los visitantes que tuvo una vez construido.

La parte de comercio es simple a más no poder, solo elige lo que quieres exportar/importar y le das a un boton. Nada de elegir cantidades, precios, ni trueque ni nada. El sistema de mejoras de los edificios es muy rudimentario, junta dinero y pagas. Tiene cosas que no aportan nada, como mandar a una tropa a ir a investigar el terreno desconocido (pagando, como no).

El apartado militar, aparte de poder crear una serie de edificios defensivos y otros que te proporcionan tropas no tiene mayor profundidad. En una de mis partidas me negué a pagarle al rey los 20.000 para mi independiencia y dos grupos de soldados (eran unos 12 o asi) vinieron, me asaltaron y se acabó la partida.

En el apartado visual no está mal, lo puedo jugar a un detalle decente en mi Macbook Pro de 2011 con una Radeon HD6770M (en macOS), lo cual es un buen punto y denota buen trabajo de optimización. La interfaz me parece muy mal diseñada para las pocas ventanas que tiene, en especial la del panel de cada edificio o ciudadano, muy engorrosa.

En cuanto la mecánica pues no hay mucho que decir, el autoguardado es muy poco frecuente asíque recomiendo salvar de vez en cuando. Lo de parar/acelerar el tiempo pues no tiene mucha utilidad, yo siempre he jugado con el al máximo. Hay desastres como terremotos que te destruyen algunos edificios, pero no esperéis efectos espectaculares, solo temblor de la pantalla y ya. No hay ayuda contextual, cero patatero. La construccion de caminos es engorrosa, si te gusta hacer distribuciones cuadriculadas no te permite poner dos cruces muy cerca. Y si eres MUY quisquilloso lo vas a odiar, pues aunque rodees un edificio con una carretera, puede que no quede exactamente centrado dentro de ella.

Sin duda, lo mejor del juego es el apartado sonoro, aunque deberían haber metido más canciones. Aunque muchos comentarios hablan del humor a mí no me hizo ni pizca de gracia. Está muy bien doblado, eso si.

En resumen, me parece un juego de gestión al que le falta justamente eso: gestión. Quizás toque cada aspecto que un juego de este tipo debería tener (menos la gestión de recursos, imperdonable!!!), pero lo hace con tan poca profundidad que se queda a medio camino. Además como ya comenté hay muchas incoherencias y situaciones absurdas derivadas de hacerlo tan simple.

Está bien ambientado y tiene bonitos gráficos pero si te gustan juegos con una mínima gestión creo que no te divertirás con este juego. Por supuesto, absténgase fans de Anno, Settlers, etc.

En lo referente a jugabilidad, ha pérdido mucho, y no es por otra cosa que un intento de casualizarlo para llevarlo a consolas, cosa que como suele pasar en este tipo de ports, va mal.

Y si hablamos del punto de comedia y sátira del juego, se ha ido totalmente ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. El 4 tenía su gracia puesto que realizaba pequeñas críticas y sátiras sutiles sin ningun ánimo de persuasión. Pero lo de este juego es ya de cachondeo, se ha convertido en un panfleto yankee en los que en todo momento despótrican y citan mitos y mentiras sobre las "dictaduras del mundo" (que, como no, estas "dictaduras" son de izquierda). En estas no vas a ver rumores o datos sobre Videla, Pinochet, Franco u otros, si no más bien insultos a Hoxha, a Fidel y Stalin.

En fin, pura propaganda de derechas.

Solo sirve para jugar a un jugador.

El modo Multijugador esta plagado de bugs y crasheos constantes que hacen de la experiencia algo traumatica. Incluso el jugar con amigos es una odisea.

WTF!!!! iba a comprar el TROPICO 5 COMPLETE COLLECTION, aprovechando el aniversario para un amigo y desaparecio misticamente.

Este juegazo merece un 10+ pero por hacer esta trampilla para que compremos el base y luego los DLC; tendran un dislike. eso no se hace kalypso + Valve. El bundle estaba en 119 mx, y comprar todo separado sale casi 200. ¬ ¬

I'm a pretty big fan of games of this kind. I grew up playing the different versions of Sim City.

I'm also a big fan of Tropico 3 and 4, and bought this game on sale. Even on sale, I can't really recommend it and here's why:

They haven't fixed the most important problem.

If you've played Tropico extensively, like I have, you've run into the problem with road congestion. It has not been fixed. You must plan out very meticulously your road network from the VERY beginning of the game. Each subsequent story mission builds upon the progress you've made in previous missions. You use the same Island and city as before (there's 2 different islands, and thus two different cities). If you're not very careful, you'll end up like I did, 6 or 7 missions in without the means to really go in and rework everything, and it's not until that far in that the problem becomes very large and difficult to solve.

If you have a diverse economy, which is actually very easy to achieve in Tropico 5, it's not difficult to make quite a lot of money that can be invested into infrastructure, but the problem for me doesn't lie in having to rework infrastructure, it's that I'm working to circumvent poor coding (the road system I mentioned earlier) that has been in every Tropico game I've ever played.

Road management is a part of the game, I'm fully aware, but there is no management options. Tropicans will take the shortest route available. There are no one way street, or high volume highway like options. I can't do anything but build a singular type of road which nearly every building needs to be attached to. The only way to be completely efficient is to have EXTREMELY ugly circle roads that never connect to each other except by adjacent garages. Someone actually developed a circumvention system for Tropico 3 (which has persisted into 4 and 5 out of necessity). If you google "road congestion tropico", I'm sure you can find more information (if interested).

This Tropico is a little bit more challenging than the last ones in terms of Rebels and their threats. They attack much more often, and your army cannot be controlled beyond telling them which buildings you value the most. Rebels will attack from multiple points and your army sallies out of wherever you built your buildings. Since all you have is men on foot and eventually very slow tanks, the rebels will usually destroy several buildings before your army can even respond.

Rebels are also able to target your army squads while you are unable to control and choose targets for your own. What this means is that your army will be running to defend a certain building, and the rebels will follow along and continually fire at them while your army DOES NOT RETURN FIRE, and simply dies. It's EXTREMELY frustrating.

There's also a huge problem that persists with housing.

As you might remember, people get old and retire and their income falls. There are children, unemployed and students as well. In Tropico 5, Houses now have budgets like employment buildings do. It is essentially the rent charge.

NO MATTER WHAT JOB PEOPLE HAVE, most of them will not live in a house because it is too expensive. Even if you've maximized the budget (and thus their pay) at their place of employment. You must lower the rent to a single point (out of a maximum of 5) in order to allow people to live there. YOU MUST turn on social security. Otherwise you will CONSTANTLY be attacked by rebels. YOU MUST do this for every housing building.

People will also not live in a building that is too far from where they work. Couples make a decision based upon both their work locations. If not satisfied with how close they live to work, they toss up a shack!

It is not uncommon to see shacks right beside housing units that are completely empty.

For some ungodly reason, Tenements lose housing value over time. There is no option to remedy this. This only way to circumvent is to completely destroy the building and replace it. It would have taken a few lines of code to add a renovate option, but no, they didn't do that. I wouldn't be surprised if it was in a DLC.

The graphics are improved, a lot of the mechanics of the game have been streamlined, but not fixed. There are improvements here, although the dynasty system is tacked on, stupid, and useless.

It feels like it's still Tropico. I don't know what it is that provides that feeling, the enjoyment of the game, and the music (I've always really enjoyed it) or the same bloody bugs that have persisted forever without attention.

A las pocas horas se vuelve muy evidente que es un juego falto de contenido y con muy poca profundidad.

Gaste dinero hace mas de un mes y todavia no funciona. Se sale al escritorio cuando llegas al menu de inicio del juego.
Tengo una pc nueva con buena placa de video que soporta hasta el battlefield, asi que no se si necesita parchearse.
Eh leido que le esta pasando a muchos con la ultima actualizacion del tropico.... una lastima...la verdad me siento estafado.
