I have contacted Kalypso Media Support and developers are currently working on a fix. In the meantime, here follows their official guide on how to get to the Legacy Branch of Tropico 5:
  1. Launch the Steam Client
  2. Open your Steam Library and right-click on Tropico 5
  3. Select 'Properties' and click on the 'Betas' tab
  4. Click on the drop-down list and select '1.10_legacy - 1.10 Win/Linux/Mac Legacy'
  5. Press 'Close'
  6. Wait until all necessary files have been downloaded and start the game

Ca we get an update on whether you guys are working on this? Been a while since the update and now I have to go and learn how to play Civ.

On Mac os works with the latest beta version. There is no mission editor in the game.
Do something urgent! I really want to play on my created map.


Tropico is dead with this update! :(((

Tropicans!
A new update for Tropico 5 is now available. This introduces a fix for both the Mac and Linux versions of the game.

Players who switched to the legacy branch as workaround now need to go back to the main game to get the fix:

  • Launch the Steam Client
  • Open your Steam Library and right-click on Tropico 5
  • Select 'Properties' and click on the 'Betas' tab
  • Click on the drop-down list and select 'NONE - opt out of all beta programs'
  • Press 'Close'
  • Wait until all necessary files have been downloaded and start the game

The road problem was not that they would need a popup, but that the area the player owns does not expand and so the roads cant be demolished outside the radius around the palace
