How to stop exporting?
How do you stop exporting? I have an island that is currently importing coal for six power plants. However, whenever an export ship docks it exports some of that coal! Why? How do I disable it. Is this a bug? This is expensive since I'm importing above market price, using some of it and then exporting the rest at market price. Kind of stupid logic there.

No answer? Sorry, I'm bumping this since it's been a week and this is really starting to tick me off that this always happens.

Your goods are stored for a pretty long time at the docks before they are exported again.
You need to build more teamster offices or optimize your traffic system.
Maybe you are importing too much?

... its stupid a game like this needs the manual option to let the player stop all export if he wants., so why is there no such option???

A way to stop the automatic export of items would really be nice...I kinda want to store my natural gas, rather than sell it...
WaitandSee Jan 22, 2015 @ 11:44pm
There is a mod for that, it allows you to choose what gets exported, and you can warehouse goods you want to stockpile.

I agree, the Dev's have gone way too far with this, I stopped buying DLC once Tropico 4 was done, but they have really done it with this game, they just butchered into sections, so they could just sell it back with DLC, wonderful job guys.

I just cannot understand what must be going through there heads, are they that cash-strapped they need the DLC to stay afloat? By knowingly scamming their customers hard earned money just so they can try and play a full game that they have not released all the parts to? And just want to sell them back to us? Brilliant.

Your just like EA! Congratulations!

All crucial or user-requested features have been patched into the game for free:
The Supermax Prison, the MP Save mechanic, the population slider, the ability to disable radio messages or the option to deactivate the event cam.

DLCs and Expansions provide new Missions, whole Campaigns and new gameplay with new Buildings and voice recordings.

We understand if you do not like the concept of a DLC but please refrain from calling us names.

No offense but you sound proud of the fact you included things that should have been part of the game anyways. And you use the word "Free", like we're getting some sort of "deal" on this content. Let me sell you a car with 1 door.....I'm sure you'd be all over that.

And no one is calling you names, we're calling you out on the shenanigans you're pulling with the content.

All i tried to tell you is that if there ever will be an option to control exports it will not be part of a paid DLC but more likely to be patched in for free for all who own the main game.

We are still updating Tropico 5 and collecting feedback as we always do.
You could jump over to forum.kalypsomedia.com and post some suggestions.
You will also find some mods there which might be helpful to you.

*Cough* Which are not supported for online play. *Cough*

Companies don't like mods, as they can't profit from them, give us a reason on why YOU won't let us use mods online? Probably the same reason others don't.

<Insert Cop-Out reason here>

Using mods is basically cheating and leads to frustrated players and desyncs.

Its not cheating at all. If you use a mod to insta research or grant yourself cash, then sure, but the majority of mods out there improve upon the gameplay experience by creating realistic output for mines/fish etc, or create a whole new trade system that expands on the game. Just a terrible shame they cannot implement new building textures as you have made it impossible to do so (correct me if im wrong however).

I've yet to come across a college that only caters for 15 people in my lifetime also.

Electrify all - adding the electric upgrade for houses in 1 click. Thats not a cheat at all. Its far more frustrating going round to each and every building and clicking a button.

Sorry for the double post but I felt this statement needed its own little part:

KitGuru Says: Why any company would go after mods is beyond me. They extend the life of a game massively beyond its original content. It seems especially strange to suggest that it’s to prevent “cheating,” in a game that’s dominated by single player and cooperative campaign play.

I guess the latter part of cooperative isn't so true with Tropico as its mostly dead. But you get the gist of what they are saying. Hampering the modders ability will only, ultimately, shorten the lifespan on this game.

We're not hampering the use of mods for single player games in any way. Tropico 5 has a very active modding community and we're happy to see players tweak the game to their individual liking. There's a whole subforum dedicated to mods on our official forum.
Jimmy NoShoes Feb 2, 2015 @ 5:51am
How can you possibly say that you don't hamper modders abilities? To me it seems like a very limited moddable game. Sure you can add new trades etc, but graphically, you have made it impossible for people to add textures to said mods.

So sure, I can build a cannabis plantation, but it will look exactly the same as every other single one. Sure I can add a new housing type, but it would look exact same as another type of house.

So yeh, you allow mods in single player, but these mods are limited graphically and thus lose appeal.

If you actually allowed modders to add mods how they want, you'd probably see a surge in housing textures and cities that look alot more varied.

And the Resource Management mod, this makes the game so much better, you can finally control what resources go where, so I can stockpile coal, or Iron, so it goes where you want, and never gets exported raw. All these things will make online play so much better, but you have a Stonewall Policy to modding in multiplayer, you call it cheating, but if it matched files like DLC does, all party's will know what they get themselves into.
