Population bug?
I have a sandbox game on a large island and have been building away successful with living space for 700 people and 650 job spaces to fill and 50 rebels constantly at my throat I was irritated by some bug that has capped my population around 2025. Ive added obstetrics wings to every hospital and have paid through the nose for foreign workers to try and get the population to grow to my island's needs but to no avail. The births have lowered my workforce and the foreigners have gone home with the money.

Any help on this issue would be fantastic.

Population is capped at 2000. It will hover around 2010-2030 pop, but never higher. You need a population mod to remove the cap.

- Add a Folder called "CommonLua" in "C:\Program Files (x86)Steam\Steamapps\Common\Tropico5" (your main game directory where the .exe is)
- Inside the folder create a text file and add these lines:
"OnMsg.ClassesPreprocess = function()
const.PopLimit = 100000
end"
- Save and exit then rename the file to nopoplimit.lua (change the .txt to .lua)
DONE!
your new pop limit is now 100 000. you can change it to 99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 too.

Be aware, that you might experience lags and even crashes if you do this. Most hardware isn't capable of more than 2000 tropicans.

I have a 5000 pop mod, I play on a HP laptop, and I don't experience lag at all. People with PCs should have an even better machine than mine. I agree that past 10k citizens, it must be hard to manage. But I swear, on my laptop, with an island between 4k-5k pop, there are no lag problems at all.

My bad... "older hardware" isn't able to deliver the amount of performance needed for more than 2000.

Let's just say that someone with older hardware shouldn't play games. LOL ....

My laptop is a June 2013 HP laptop, Windows 8.1, Nvidia GeForceGT635M, intel COREi7, and the game works like a charm on a high settings accross the board! Imagine people with newer PC, with better graphic card, this game must be heaven!!

I already feel it's time to change my computer LOL ( I buy a new one max every 2 years).

Maybe you guys at Kalypso should have focused not only on the «older hardware players«, but new hardware players. Removing that population cap along with the tourist cap would be great for those with newer hardware. Just sayin! :P

Or add option to adjust those caps.

That begs the question, which hardware would be able to, is Tropico Processor heavy with more population? I have an i3 with 8Gb RAM and a Radeon 5770...

Using a mod does void eligibility for customer support.
The more population you allow on your island the heavier it will go on the resources.

In other words: If you experience crashes or mod related bugs, we will not be able to help you as long as you are using mods.

Anyone who have played this game, in spite of crashes, trade issues and other strange phenomenae, knows that a pop cap at 2000 is ridiculous. A tip for the devs should be that they should have made much smaller maps for single player games so the player dont feel so restricted and frustrated when they reach the pop cap and realize that almost 80% of the islands area is still empty.

2000 to me seems way more than enough to have all the workers i need combine happy childhood no free lunch paid healthcare IT edu no social security and no I mean NO obstetrics wings and allmost everyone on your island will be a worker there will be even with 2000 pop 25 or less retired and probably 50 or less children but i just can't see anymore then 100 kids at worse so worst case with 2000 pop you've got around 1800 or so workers.

So, the Dev answer, reading between the lines is "We wont help you because you want our game to be better?" I have to admit that I personally am surprised and disappointed about that.
