Original teamster/construction office buildings
Hi !!

You know, they provide us with the palace, 1 teamster, 1 construction office, 1 port, 4 country houses and a ranch and/or plantation.

When I start a new island, usually, the placement for those buildings is awful (besides maybe the port). I always delete the houses, the plantation or the ranch and few of the roads. But why can't we delete the teamster/construction office? Somestimes, they are next to the palace, not even close to the port, and as I'm visualizing the game in the future, a construction office next to the palace is not great, in the eye of an urban developper.

I wish we could delete them, as we can with plantation/ranch and country houses. Even the palace is weirdly placed sometimes, not even facing the sea.

Thoughts?

Yeah, it would be cool if you had free teamster office and construction office, rather than badly placed houses, roads, and other buildings. I usually get traffic jams samwhere near those pre-placed roads.
You cannot delete the teamster/construction buildings if there is only one of them. Build one where you want it, fast build it, and now you can delete the ones you were given at the start.

Option to delete them doesnt exist for me even with 20 teamsters in city. Same with original port. I always delete all roads when I start the game, same with country houses, I relocate them somewhere else.
Thats weird because I do this in every sandbox game. Try pressing the delete key and using the delete tool. There may just not be an option in the building menu.

Moving the Palace would be a nice option.

@Abalister...that is weird. As soon as I get a worker for the new ones I just demolish the old.

Well, I might have been blind then. Let me take another look. That's wonderful news if it works, only the palace and dock now. Would it be same for the dock?

Agree with the OP. A really good solution would be to allow the player to place the palace, dock, teamster office, construction office, houses and roads at the start of the game as instant builds. The placement the game gives you is always pretty rubbish. Maybe they can modify that in a update but for the moment I am more concerned with them fixing the game killing flaws and bugs before they do anything else.

It baffles me that the palace is placed so close to the beach even on preconstructed sandbox maps. Just utterly terrible. The palace belongs in the back where it's easier to defend and doesn't take up valuable room where you want to build your industry.

I agree with the 'place things yourself on start option' which should have been there in 4 and one more reasonwhy I only played 5 for 8hrs ... and they should get rid of the cloud you have to spend $1K on every time you want ot uncover part of it too ...

At least you uncover the map in World Wars with The Compass so it's not that big of a deal, you usually don't expand that much at the start anyway. But it does seem like an unnecessary feature.

If you delete the Construction office then there would be no workers to construct the new one :P

hahaha, smart, never thought of that. But I can confirm now, once I build another construction office and another teamster, the «demolish« option appears in their respective menu, for the original ones. Didn't look at the dock but I'm pretty sure it's the same.

good point on the cloud and exploritng. I am not a big fan of that part either, at least not the way it is set up. I think they could do two things to improve it if they keep the cloud. First and formost, they need to separate the compass from the drydock and make the compass available in the colonial era. It seems pretty silly to me to go into the world wars era and still have your island under a cloud. Second, the area they explore is pretty narrow and it would be nice if they expanded the width of their search zone.

When I loaded up T5, I had thought we would be able to lay out everything how we wanted. No such thing again!! They had a lot of feed back on this. 90% of the time i have to reroll a map, not because the map sucks, but because of the placement of the palace.

Maybe 1 out 10 games I will keep the original dock, not once ever have I kept any other of the preplaced buildings. Those country house's are a worthless trap, they have no value other then doing a revolution mission!

Get off your butts and give us the option to lay our palace as the 1st building!!!

Also, this time around the palace does even less. In T4 you had speeches and stuff, in this one it's just a glorified barracks and your loss condition if it gets destroyed. And I could swear it's bigger this time around.

I do not want this hunk of ♥♥♥♥ anywhere near my important structures. It takes up far too much space and does nothing of value. I want it way in the back surrounded by guard towers and other military structures.
