Tropico 5
Lazy Teamsters killed my economy
So, I finally delve back into Tropico and as the great Presidente I am I salaved my nation, got it's economy going nice and strong, raised its population to over 600 and then my Teamsters disapeared and stopped trafficing industrial goods to my harbors.

Seriously though, my economy once thriving with so much backed up resources in the harbor that my budget was over 100k (probably would be 200k by now) and now it's all ground to a hault. I have three Teamsters offices up and maybe 3 teamsters wandering around my city, via arrows.

This seriously needs to be fixed.

I totally agree, stuff is simply not collected anymore no matter how manyu teamster officies you build, they are always busy doing other stuff
This. I can confirm it. Following the patch, my industry income takes a nose dive because for example my vehicle factory which runs off of imported bauxite never gets its bauxite delivered. I thought this was fixed in 1.02, but actually it was made worse? I didn't have this kind of problem in 1.01.

Tried to demolish the dock and rebuild, tried the same with the vehicle factory, had 10 teamster offices, nothing worked. I also had an electronics factory that seemed to have the bauxite delivered once every blue moon, but in general every time I clicked my dock there was just 9000 bauxite lying there and being sold off to the next ship that came through because the teamsters never picked it up to transport to the factories that needed it.
ive always had this problem with my cities
There are so many bugs in this game I don't know where to start....this isn't a finished game, it plays like an alpha
have the same probs @ large cities
I agree this seems to have started happening after the 1.02 update. Before I beat the campaign with little problem. Now right around the modern era my teamsters all decide to stop transporting goods and my economy goes from 100k/year to about that much in the red.
I have made a topic about the same problem you experienced.
I didnt have any bugs at all till the update. (mainly because I wasn't playing MP ). now everything seems screwed. deleting the docks worked for me to fix this prollem. they are probably all stuck in another building :/
Solution: Buy Tropico 4 Gold Edition (basicalloy tropico 4 and the modern times expansion) for really cheap price (amazon has it for about $14.89 right now). Teamsters, and pretty much the whole game, works like you would expect a 'finished' product to work.

1) Teamsters actually do what they are supposed to (so your economy actually works)
2) Rebels don't attack you at random times for no reason whatsoever.
3) Most of your Tropicans will actually go live in a house that is free (as opposed to just making shacks all over).
4) You can actually imprison people, and offer Rebels amnesty (which actually works in Tropico 4).
Just to name a few.

it seems that teamsters prioritize moving stuff around from plantations to factories and food to stores rather than moving stuff to port, im 600 pop and have 8 teamsters buildings and it seems that theres never any products in my ports and ships often leave with only couple of K's worth of stuff
Yup. 1.02 seems to have made things worse! *sigh*

Grey Buddah correctly points out most of the major problems with tropico 5, except they also broke the trade routes in tropico 5 in the 1.02 patch and now 15 year trade agreements can last 2-3 months. Rather than rewarding them for putting out a crap product by buying a different finished game from them, I want them to fix Tropico 5. I bought a finished product, not an alpha. What we have in Tropico 5 is an alpha. Fundamental elements of the game simply don't work and the 2 patches only made the SP game worse. This is absolutely unacceptable and the game is unplayable in SP in its current state.

So in order, and credit to grey buddist for his contributions here, I think the following things need to be corrected before anything else:

1) Fix the trade routes so they last the full term of the trade offer and while you are at it, for accuracy, the import export prices should pulled from the trade routes and not from the almanac
2) Fix the teamsters already, I know you said you fixed it but you didn't. Put someone who knows what they are doing on it this time, the receptionist isn't a programer, even if she is hot.
3) Rebels need a reason to rebel. Right now they attack and rise up for no reason at all. Name one country in history that has a 70, 80,or 90% approval rating from the population and has rebels. It doesn't happen in real life and it should happen in tropico either. Rebels should rise up when there are serious problems not when happiness is high in all areas and approval ratings are 80%.
4) Fix the shack problem. when there is available housing they can afford tropicans should move into it rather than making shacks. This thing about then having to have a house right next to their workplace is ridiculous. I don't live near my work but you don't see me building a shack on the front lawn.
5) Bring back the prisions so criminals and rebels can be arrested. Banishing or even killing crime lords should not cause civil unrest it should reduce it. Do tropicans really want their crime lords left alone to continue their crime spree on tropico? Also, it would be nice if rebel amnisty actually worked.

Did you people actually think this game though before you released it? It sure doesn't show it.

I kind of agree with all this.

The receptionist part made me laugh to tears.

Cheers.

3) Some countries do enjoy a large approval rating and have rebels because there is always some person who thinks they can run the place better and promises people things and agitates them over every thing wrong with the nation.

But since this is not a mechanic in game it's not an excuse.
